To add to all of the obvious and good points some of you guys have already shared. If these guys give out their exact cycles and dosages, some idiotic kid, beginner or someone totally ignorant of gear will without a doubt, buy everything required for that exact cycle and take it..thinking that it will allow them to break world records. One thing that I have learned in the gym over the last 2 decades is that otherwise normal people will do absolutely idiotic things when it comes to gear. Their expectations are absolutely insane. If you know nothing about gear and think that it is going to change everyone over night, you have NO business even talking about ..let alone using it.

When I took steroids for the first time, I was 18. I took methandienone, a flat dose of 5 mg per day for 40 days in a row. Before I started, my bench press was 105 kg. On the 40th day, my bench press was 135 kg. 2 months later, without taking anything, it was still 135 kg.

At 18 I benched 335 at 167. In college by senior year I got 375 at 180 and thought I was super man until I realized I had not gained shit in 4 years. I thought I had gained a lot because I started squatting and deadlifting in college and dramatically improved those lifts. My deadlifts and squats in four years was close to 600 each and I started doing bent over rows which went from 135 for 3x10 to 365 for 3x8. Then the year after college things changed and in 1 year I weighed 205 and benched 405 for 5 reps, rowed 425 for 5, deadlifted 635 for 5 sumo style. By 45 each of those lifts increased by a whopping 40-60 pounds each although the rows got lighter as I only used a chest supported variety. I weight about 207 and My squat and deadlift were under 700 for squat and over for deadlift and bench was at about 475-500 (I would get 3 sets of 3 paused with 435). This was not natural so how far did I really get. Play I realized I didn’t have the discipline to eat what needed to be eaten to get my body weight I love to get in those big numbers. I was happy with my strength and my size and of course I had three surgeries in the shoulder reconstruction. Unless you’re competing there’s no reason to use anything other than TRT when you get older because overtime if your just interested in general strength I believe you can get as strong as I was at the same weight with the same look if you pay attention to training intelligently. I trained correctly for what I was doing, but I was a little bit reckless and I could’ve trained with much less weight and achieved as good results or better Because I would not injure myself. In college I was partying all the time and achieved well over double bodyweight bench And nearly tripled body weight lift in the squat and deadlift Without looking like a total freak Retaining a lot of athleticism my friends who are all using at the time Certainly attracted attention cosmetically, but most of them were not as strong as I was Especially pound for pound. Somewhere a little stronger but weighed about 75 pounds more. The others weren’t as strong and weighed 20 to 50 pounds more

ToffeeAppleBandLTD although genetics aren't being defined in these arguments, I wouldn't say that I have 'great' genetics but I can't imagine not adding 75-100lbs to my deadlift taking testosterone. I think that a good comparison here is how much of a difference TRT makes in guys who have low T. If I already have good levels, and then add to that, I would expect the gains to be comparable.

Ed should tell his stack when he got popped twice by the IPF. Popped for nandrolone, but surely it wasn’t just deca. Was it just test and deca? Was their D-bol or Anadrol?? The most important thing here is how in the hell do they even manage deadlift and squat workouts on the latter two with the horrendous lower back pumps that accompany them. They can be all but debilitating and shut the workout down for the next half hour. It can make tying your shoes or anything where you bend at the waste for half a second brutal. No unsolicited responses, serious inquiries only.

I've nothing against assisted or unassisted. I was a top level amateur bodybuilder back in the 90's. I knew a number of top powerlifters then. I'll be competing in M2 GBPF next year obviously unassisted. Yes with the right mental approach and consistency an unassisted athlete can lift big numbers. I have the uttmost respect for Ed and like watching Marks videos BUT this either avoiding the question or being very naive (I'm guessing not). It's very very easy to get around and beat any drug test a Powerlifting Federation will undertake.

I mean, I don't like this dishonesty about steroid use, every top athlete, every top powerlifter or weightlifter used something at some point. It is stupid to assume that these guys can lift the way they lift and look the way they look without taking at least test. Just use yourself as an example of how hard it is to progress and how everything needs to be on point in order to make a significant progress in lifting. Just fucking be honest about it, no one cares anyway.

A gain of 10 lean lbs in less than a year for someone other than a teen beginner ,would be unrealistic natural

I can accept that people can get crazy good strength on deadlifts and squats. Bench though, I'd have a hard time believing anyone benching 500 or more isn't on something.

  • @nickkraw1

bmoc888 I agree with you in that 500 or even that close to it is essentially unattainable for a natural. Bench also seems like something you’re either born to do or not in my opinion. Like Mark benched so much as a teenager, and his out of shape mom benched more than most men who don’t workout. I know a guy who’s diet and training is terrible and he’s tiny, but he can bench without even trying. Benches more than he deadlifts. The guys who could naturally bench 405+ if they train and recovery properly for many years are the guys who were just born to do it. Like think of Kirill Sarychev or Eddie Hall. They’re probably men who’s bench would still be up there without drugs. Speaking of which, I was at IPF worlds. A guy benched 620 like it was a joke. So easy for him, fast bar speed, could have gone way heavier if he was just going for a bench record. And the IPF is “natural” lmao. Meanwhile there’s guys with veiny forearms and massive delts weighing 330 lb men in the super heavy class. I think most of the guys in the 100kg class were either natty or close to it though.

I always thought Raw meant no supporting gear other than a belt and knee sleeves (wraps in some contest). I did not think it meant no gear outside of a “tested” organization. I am not one to doubt What can be accomplished naturally because the people wait until their 20s to try a cycle of test and anadrol might take their 405 bench and 600 squat at 200 pounds to 455 and 675 in 4 months at 225. They Will never make gains like that again that rapidly although their cycles will get much bigger . Then at 35 and 260 they bench 540 and squat 800. Had they stayed they remained natural they probably would hit 460 and 700 at a softer 242. That’s the huge difference. The only guys that turn Into freaks overnight are bodybuilders who take tons of shit (steroids dramatically increase size quickly but strength comes more slowly regardless although it improves rapidly at first. Usually strength increases only with their weight after a year or so. The drugs like oral anadrol and d-bol produce strength in the form of A leverage improvements predominately in the muscles around the chest shoulders triceps and quads. Steroids do very little for your dead lift because bloating and water retention doesn’t help that. The squat and the bench press primarily benefit. Although much of the proceed strength will be in the form of rep range with heavyweight. Your max may only glow up 40 to 70 pounds and your first big cycle. However if you were only capable of getting 275 for 6 reps the leverage and spring in your joints may result in you performing 11 reps. The truth is your 1 rep max improved about 15%. An 18 year old with 275 bench and 425 squat becomes a 250 lean bodybuilder at 24 and benched 3&5 and squats 565. Of course he tells everybody that he can bench 600 and squat 800 and his first chest exercise is bench with his training partners hand on the bar as he gets 425 for 8 with 75-100 pounds of assistance which is hard to detect when you are being spotted with only 10% more than your max and some meat head who can lift 75-100 pounds in a fake spot with little effort.

Mediocre lifters want to hear all the greats admit their strength was due mainly to steroid use so they can feel good about themselves. Strength training is a very broad field. I've seen guys with ridiculous lifting techniques and lifestyles trying to get more steroids to improve their lifts. Many believe that the best guys are always on better steroids. Such thinking always leads to the guys achieving nothing and destroying their bodies with steroids

in high school? 0 chance, can you even do it now? i bet not, the first big number like 300 or 400 is easy, try adding 100 pounds to an already heavy lift though. I also deadlifted 420 around 18 years old btw.

I think what they were trying to say is that you don't automatically hit records once you start taking steroids. Seems like everyone wants to discredit someones accomplishments and just say STERIODS. It's a majority of the comment section now.

Sport implies fairness, a level playing field. If one is taking steroids / peds, then please compete non-tested. Its ok. Honest must be the norm & enforced by lifter & league I can also understand that steroids may be needed for purely medical reasons. In which case that lifter must be honest about the steroid use and compete non-tested If all that is not the case, then why take steroids, atleast purely for performance, when a mechanical crane would be better to lift more weight ? I think that Drug-free strength & skill levels are key measures of what nature has truly enabled in nature, the ultimate level playing field. Hopefully there is room to indeed measure that type strength & skill with honesty. Lastly Steroid usage is not a healthy life-style. Hopefully there is room to also get that message out also.

I see a lot of people getting butthurt about them not fully going in depth about steroids. People don't understand that this isn't something that you can just tell people all these stacks and dosages, it becomes a liability especially for someone who owns a business like Mark. Secondly yes of course steroids help, they never said that it didn't, but what they are saying is that steroids aren't a magical substance that will automatically make you this freak of nature. Genetics still play a massive role in how someone will respond to steroids and that there will be that 1% of people out there who are just naturally strong af. Science has discovered there is a genetic limit to how much muscle someone can put on naturally, but they haven't discovered a genetic limit when it comes to strength
