It is possible only with "light" weight, this is 120 kg I believe which Larry did clean. To that with 160-180kg? You will need hand size of Mark Henry

Yuval o fair point I'm sure the technique is possible without a gut and I'm sure I've seen strongmen use their belts to rest the axle on.

@ArtjomGlad Olympic weightlifters usually train chiefly in the snatch, clean & jerk, and front squat. A lot of them train back squats and deadlifts to build power for their main lifts, and they almost universally train in 1-3 reps all the time. And mixed martial artists usually train however the sport or martial art they come from trains. Many of them do some weight lifting, they all typically do a lot of high rep interval training, and a lot of drilling and technique work.
@StrongManMattt11 жыл бұрын

@Draykidsbuthol13 жыл бұрын
@ArtjomGlad Well, bodybuilders train in the 8-12 rep range with mostly isolation movements, i.e. cable curls, flyes, etc. and some powerlifting movements. Powerlifters train mostly the dead, squat and bench in the 1-5 rep range, and usually use a lot of suits, bands, chains, etc. Strongmen train with a lot of odd objects (atlas stones, super yokes, conan's wheel), thick bars and usually some grip training. This sport has the most variance in training out of all of them.

Power lifters focus on body strength, which relies heavily on muscle. The body's main muscle fiber types: type I, type IIA and type IIB. Type I is the weakest and slowest, but has the most endurance. Type IIA is the strongest and fastest, but has the least endurance. Human muscles occur along a continuum of fiber types. For power lifters, type IIB fiber, the most powerful, is most frequently used. The use of anabolic steroids can add more nuclei to the muscle, and enhance muscle fiber size

olympic press is completely different. No body english allowed, its the same as a shoulder press pretty much but with more of a lean. They got rid of it because of really flexible guys who would almost bench press the weight while standing. Its harder than the clean that they are doing here, but you couldnt use nearly the same amount of weight obviously. Oh and Ken Patera had the record in the press if im not mistaken.

Overeem is a good example right now of a guy with a lot of muscle & physical power AND punching power because he has hand speed, reach & good technique allowing him to get a lot of his body wt into a strike, whether hands or feet. Too bad he's been doping for a while cuz it's really not fair in MMA, but he's going to be very hard to beat as he gains more experience. His body has grown A LOT from just a few years ago. Anyway, He's probably got the most tools right now to rule MMA.
