Another direct comparison between Mario Sunshine and Splatoon beyond the ink is the fact that in the third game, the boss fight against "Big Man" is literally the manta ray boss fight in Sunshine, even having a direct reference to it in it's name.

We went from analyzing the lineage of a monkey to establishing that Mario is not bound to the concept of time and confirming that the mario franchise itself, along with all of human history as part of the Mario canon.

22:20 it's a stretch but what if the IRL people are from New Donk City? I mean it expands a otherwise small area that only appears in one game. The Mario movie also used the term "Brooklyn" for the place where Mario and Luigi live, but we see Pauline as the major too. Which either means that Pauline is somehow the major of 2 city's located in different worlds or Brooklyn is an extended area of New Donk City this still doesn't explain the locations outside the American continent but we could also assume that those games take place in Sonic's world

The non -American locations can't be in Sonic's world. I present Sonic Unleashed as evidence, because that is a world-spanning adventure (to the point that Unleashed is only the localised title, the Japanese title is Sonic World Adventure), and not only do the continents look completely different to our world, the names of nations and the like are very notably different too. There's even either one or *two* US equivalents, depending on if Empire City (in Unleashed) is part of the United Federation we see in SA2 and Shadow or not. Of course, Sonic lore as a whole hasn't exactly been consistent, though right now the current lore is that it's split between continents and various islands/archipelagos, with the animal characters generally living on the islands with the humans living on the continents.

Considering that we sometimes IRL get to see Mario (maybe Sonic too but i don't remember Sonic appearing in Olympics) it could be like Mortal Combat where characters from different worlds get invited to a tournament (in this case the Olympics). Which if true makes Earth cannon anyway there is also Mario Kart Tour but given that the city tracks go trough places that have laws preventing those races from happening so those tracks would have to part of the Mario universe somehow (perhaps New Donk City is a really big place that can fit all of Earth city's)

Wanna touch on Fire Emblem's crossover with the game "Project X Zone 2" (and Code Name: S.T.E.A.M, but we don't care about that) which includes Chrom, Lucina; franchises like Tekken, Street Fighter, Mega Man (X), Ace Attorney, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and so many more. We can connect Kazuya's appearance in that game to the series which would... become Xenoblade (not quite sure) called "Xenosaga". His crossovers with Pac-Man and Pac-Man's crossovers with fanchises like Ape Espace, and then Ape Escapes' crossover with Metal Gear opens up yet another rabbit hole. This conversation can actually go on for aeons and I'm happy we have MFs like you brave enough to talk about it

And just because I'd like to point this out, the first "Ape Escape" is also one of those works of fiction that involves a time machine, as Specter and his minions use the one invented by The Professor in order to change human history by making themselves the dominant species, (similar to "Planet of the Apes") which Spike had prevented by capturing every single monkey scattered across the time stream.

"Codename S.T.E.A.M., but we don't care about that," I care. Also there's the Hot Shots/Everybody's Golf series, which also includes Pac-Man alongside other PS/guest characters (even Professor Layton, despite none of his titles having released on PS systems at the time of his inclusion).

On one hand, we could assune that Mario's story is a nihilistic glimpse into the flat-circled nature of life, and it's desire to conquer and destrpy until the world is is nougnt but blackened ash. On the other hand, I take it as a sign that Mario, stepping into the unknown, is a representation of the good within lofe, the meaningful search for hope, a glimpse at the stars in the night sky. Mario is not a story of nihilistic destruction, it is an existentialist tale, how eternity inevitably entails the return of life as it does the return of death, of how we inevitably come back, a new meaning burning in our hearts.

So you’re telling me…I’m Mario canon?

A few things that can be mentioned here that I kinda gotta type out while the video plays cause there is just so much: 1. Captain N's characters look like that cause they basically had to get their designs from a guy describing them over a phone while he was using a shitty TV, hence the green megaman 2. Golden Sun can also link to Megaman Battle Network as it had a cross over meaning if the treasure from the great cave offensive didn't work that would 3. Final Fantasy has crossed over with Yo-Kai Watch a few times adding that link, I have heard the puzzle game has even more cross overs but the few I know are Attack on Titan so who knows how far out that can spread

Going on from the PlayStation All-Stars thing, God of War is also canon, and since Kratos was a DLC character for the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat 9, Kortal Kombat is also canon, and since Mortal Kombat characters feature as DLC in both Injustice games and in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, one can extrapolate that the DC multiverse is also canon to the Mario lore, which also allows for stuff like TMNT, Watchmen and Scooby Doo to be canon Thanks for coming to my TED talk

You know, having Pikmin be the start of the Mario Lore lines pretty well with Marios identity. Olimars name in Japanese is Orima which can be an anagram of Mario. So who knows, maybe Marios destiny to be a hero of the planet was inspired by the heroism of Olimar saving the natives from extinction and fixing the ecosystem. Does this mean that Olimar is Marios GOD?

Since SMT and Persona being canon to the Mario universe means that all kinds of folklore is canon, could that mean that Touhou is also canon to Mario as many of it's characters are based on said folklore? Oh, and since The Urbs is canon, that also means The Black Eyed Peas exist in the Mario universe.

I have to say that I think it humorous that there were a ton of people that wanted hey pikmin to not be canon but there’s stuff hey pikmin did that pikmin 4 brought back (like white and purple pikmin having onions and sparklium) and that now if any game feels like there’s so much a ton weird shit going and nothing makes any sense and it should be non canon it’s the mainline pikmin 4. You could arrive at Splatoon much easier and with much less speculation by just looking at Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, that's no different from a lot of the other crossovers counted in this video.

To Clarify Bowser and Donkey Kong's Presence in Skylanders, in Superchargers (the game they appeared) Master Eon, a portal master and somewhat Chief of the skylanders, sent out signals to other universes for help against Kaos, a bad portal master, Donkey Kong and Bowser got transported into the skylander Universe and after a brawl with some pirates they immediately became skylanders and help them save Skylands. Diddy is also canon in the skylander universe when you put donkey and his vehicule on the portal and is part of one of his moves, Crash is also in Skylanders, appearing in the next game, Skylanders Imaginators, along side with Neo Cortex.

I think this is less "In the Mario Universe" and more the Video Game Omniverse. KH, Final fantasy, Dragon Quest, Puyo Puyo+Tetris, Newgrounds, Valveverse, and of course SMT/Megami Tensei are different multiverses. Splatoon, Metal Gear ETC are an universe. Kirby, Bomberman, the Wario/Yoshi's Island/Donkey Kong Games are apart of the Mario Universe.

I have only watched this video so far, so apologies if I'm speaking ignorantly, but due to Mario's connection with Kirby and likely other series with dimension/universe hopping, it's possible that Mario is just simply visiting other dimensions such as regular old earth, so time travel would not at all be necessary. Though this would also mean that every other fictional universe, from regular sitcoms to fantasy epics, are canon by default, even if anyone from the Mario Map hasn't visited them YET.

Since you mentioned the Mystery Dungeon spinoffs, here is another big franchise that leads to a lot of stuff: Dynasty Warriors / Samurai Warriors Hyrule Warriors does the same as Dynasty Warriors/ Samurai Warriors, which itself created a wide variaty of spinoffs, like dynasty warriors: gundam, one piece warriors, persona 5 strikers and fire emblem warriors. So with One Piece in the bag, you can basicly combine it with all of the crossovers they had over the years, dragonball, naruto, toriko etc. So Anime is canon too :D

The existence of time travel via the Timulator and the fact that Mario himself time travels during the events of Yoshi's New Island implies that the Fallout universe may also be canon. In my headcanon, perhaps the exploitative efforts of Wario in dealing in guns and contraband caught up to him, causing nuclear fallout all over the globe, leading to the events of the Fallout games. I like to think the Pikmin series takes place on this same planet at the same time as these games, just in different parts of the world aside from those we've already seen. This implies a "Schrodinger's Mario," if you will, a potential instance of Mario BLJ'ing throughout the Mojave Wasteland as a result of usage of the Timulator, or even a newly opened Time Portal. This begs the qurstion-- would Peach side with Mr. House, considering her monarchical authoritarian rule over the Mushroom Kingdom, a potential empire without any clear transfer of power cemented in place? Is Dinosaur Land an imperialist claim of the Mushroom Kingdom, annexed by Peach for the mere business of vacationing in an exotic foreign land at the detriment of its native inhabitants? I ponder.

Luigi demonstrates his curiosity in time traveling exploits in Partners in Time, falling into a Time Portal because of his curiosity. Additionally, Luigi is known to be scared of ghosts, which some may equate to being demons. It may, perhaps, be true that if one is afraid of demons, they may be more likely to be religious. Therefore, would it necessarily farfetched to claim that Luigi is Moses himself? After time traveling to the distant past out of a potential curiosity in learning religious history, he meets God and leads his people out of Egypt, perhaps faking his death in the Bible to safely return to the present time in the Mushroom Kingdom. If this is true, it would certainly imply the canonicity of Indiana Jones, through the Staff of Kings video game, which features Moses (i.e. Luigi's) staff, used to part the Red Sea. It just makes sense!

• Lars, from the Tekken series, also appears in Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2; • Naruto crossed over with a lot of different worlds, most notably in games like J-stars Victory VS and Jump Force. Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, JoJo, One Piece and everything else related to the Shonen Jump magazine is canon to the Mario universe.

The one issue I have is somehow Mario being from New York not coming up in this video at all (which obviously makes other information regarding his origin confusing, but not entirely untenable). Edit: Actually, one more issue, another comment. If Kid Icarus is canon, Smash actually has to be through Uprising. Also, there's a few alternate ways to get some of the stuff included here that hasn't been mentioned. Mario is Missing also should have been mentioned for containing the dino land Yoshi's from in addition to real world locations.

Also, if you want to potentially connect this with a whole bunch of indie games, then Dead Cells has DLC which is a crossover with Castlevania. The same game also has equipment connecting it to Blasphemous, Gucamelee, Curse of the Dead Gods, Hollow Knight, Hyper Light Drifter, Skul, Shovel Knight (which itself opens up another entire can of worms and probably has connections elsewhere), Hotline Miami, Katana Zero, Risk of Rain, Terraria (which itself also crosses over with Don't Starve and Dungeon Defender 2) and Slay the Spire.

Adding more fictional universes: So, since earth is canon, Michael Crawford is canon. In episode 3, season 1 of Helluva Boss, Millie mentions him, and so Helluva Boss, and by that extent Hazbin Hotel, since it is taking place in the same universe, are canon, which means that Alastor is canon to Mario.

My guy looks everywhere but the actual Mario RPGs for an explanation of all this, when Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time is RIGHT THERE lmao. Sure Mario's Time Machine is funny, but regardless of who made the Timulator, E Gadd definitely made his own time machine. That game also confirms that you can create paradoxes without the universe breaking, as present day old E Gadd gets an idea from Past E Gadd in the present, which should be impossible but was caused by time travel, of course. The Mario world doesn't mind paradoxes one bit.

Totally correct - I just knew time travel and the connection to real Earth was where this series was leading to eventually, so I decided to not tackle that via the RPGs in my vid about those. Plus, Mario's Time Machine ties in the real Earth as well by having Mario's time travel lead him to past-Earth locations, so it worked better for the way I laid things out

You can also use some of the further connections to attach to the "Tommy Westphall Universe" which in turn connects it to hundreds of live action television shows. The cleanest point of entry is Sonic the Hedgehog to Sabrina the Teenage Witch thanks to Archie comics, but there's certainly plenty of other options to do it, too. Once you do that, you can follow links to X-Files, all of Star Trek, the Arrowverse, the Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy, Breaking Bad... really anything
