It's nice that you're doing the Kiosk Demo tracks again. I always like comparing these pieces of music to the final versions. Some differences I noticed were: The drums are softer and less punchy, like double-dash The whistle sounds different The "meow" synths are now brass Channel 2 and 3's synths are more like double-dash The channel 4 guitar is also less compressed. The Kiosk Demo Deconstructions I'm the most interested in listening to are the versions of SNES Mario Circuit 1, SNES Donut Plains 1, GCN Circuit theme, and GCN Baby Park. There are a few differences that make listening to them unique compared to the final versions.

So the kicks and the snares used the same channel in the demo, but used separate channels in the final. *Interesting.*

Channel 1: Electric Piano Channel 2, 3, 11, and 12: Trumpets Channel 4: Electric Guitar Channel 5: Whistle Channel 6: Tambourine Channel 7 and 8: Drums Channel 9: Bass Channel 10: Turntable Channel 13: Orchestra Hit Updated due to a big mistake I once made.

I like clicking on these videos for songs I’ve never heard, skipping to the last part to see if I’ll like it, and if I do replaying it from the beginning to hear the build up

I know it’s a ton of requests but please take your time.

I still don't know why the whistle is off key even in the beta version

It certainly is a bit out of tune, but i'm guessing that's just how the instrument naturally sounds and is 'alligned' on the keys

Is there any place to find the kiosk demo's soundfont? Would love to do an instrument-by-instrument comparison myself and take a closer look how this version and the final's are different. Even all those years ago I remember getting the game and being bummed that the music didn't sound as good as it did in the kiosk demo I gave a try at a Walmart. Thanks for the videos.

I weirdly like this version just as much if not a little more than the final - it's a little unpolished maybe but it could just be that I like some of the (iirc) double dash borrowed samples better

the difference is the drums sound very much like double dash, the brass is different, the whistle is different and those meow synth instruments (channel 11 and 12) in the demo are brass too

One thing I noticed first is the percussion is different and has a better quality. Then the trumpets are different too. And finally the whistle too. They’re basically using Mario Kart Double Dash instruments back then in pretty much every music it had.
