Marine Corps - Improved Modular Tactical Vest (IMTV) Training Video

Ғылым және технология

Training Video for the USMC Improved Modular Tactical Vest (IMTV).
The Modular Tactical Vest (MTV or MoTaV) is a ballistic vest that was first used by the US Marine Corps in 2006. The Marine Corps chose the MTV as a solution to inadequacies in the Interceptor Body Armor (IBA) after a thorough proposal and examination procedure.
USMC introduced their Improved Modular Tactical Vests (IMTV) in 2013. The IMTV is designed for Marines of smaller stature who cannot comfortably wear the full-sized MTV. The Corps does not wish to design female-specific body armor and discovered that the problem was varied statures related to torso length. The IMTV is suitable for both women and men of diminutive stature.

I'm not in the American military, hell I was a recruit in the Canadian military before my knee blew out, but despite this vest looking cool, I couldn't imagine wearing it. But then again, we wear body armor AND a tac vest on top of it.

That would be hot and heavy. You also have to consider that it will probably restrict movement. They actually tried doing that for regular troops to wear in the field, but no one is going to wear that. Lol

They’ve all got their differences and similarities. And the reason they have different systems if based on their jobs. The new navy plate carrier is smaller and offers a lower profile because they aren’t gonna be facing ground combat anytime soon. Hope this helps

Agreed, the armed services seem like they do that alot, IMO. Overcomplicated and ineffective. Funny, I think you can get better stuff nowadays as a private individual just mixing and matching up some gear on the market. I'll go ahead and add less than fully literate and wound tighter than a hummingbirds asshole to that list, since you asked so sweet. No one here made any claims about their ability to use said equipment jackass. Only that, in terms of some systems, it seems more complex than necessary. But I have that opinion of all QR carriers. Never got why a cable was needed, and it just seems haphazardous to me. Anyone or anything could snag that thing, then you're all kinds of f'ed up. its easy enough to rip velcro loose, IMO.

How much does all of that weigh...! And better question: What does that leave the marine with the ability to carry? More weight means less mobility.... You need weight, if something is too light then you end up taking all the energy, the heavier something is the more energy is required to get vest in motion, giving the wearers body time to catch up with the momentum with the vest reducing trauma

@@c03_psychie20 It wasn't grammar. I thought you were using google translate into English. The more weight a soldier carries the less mobile he is. You do not need weight in body armor to absorb energy. It just needs to catch and stop the bullet. A bullet doesn't have the kinetic energy to nock over a person. It's called physics. But back to my point, less weight of ALL equipment combined makes the soldier more mobile. Read the book.

  • @c03_psychie20

@@communismenslavesmurders5774 ah yes in the case of a soldier, yes less weight is better. However if we take a step back to plain old civvies, more coverage and weight is better rather than a tiny plate carrier. Also bullets have more than enough energy to knock over a person, I've seen it plenty of times, a lighter object is easier to get in motion where a heavier object requires more energy. I've seen what light armor does to people, they were everything except in good shape due to trauma and BFD

It isn't camouflaged because US Marines wear 2 types of camos one being desert marpat and the other being woodland marpat. It would be much more difficult if there are 2 plate carriers for 2 different camouflage patterns. A Coyote Tan PC works best with both desert and woodland marpat.
