You are in fact right. Even though jellyfish can also be poisonous when ingested, their nematocysts and venom make them venomous and not poisonous. My mistake there! Thanks for the tip

I've heard you can drink pure snake venom and it won’t do any major harm to you (it's probably tastes disgusting to drink but at it won’t kill) so as long as it doesn't go directly to your bloodstream you will be fine, unless you have a sore throat or something then it will go into your bloodstream and start to kill you.

Honestly what really bothered me about this movie was the aquarium filter lmao. When they shut it off, there was a ton of algae growth, and that isn't how that works at all!! Filters provide space for beneficial bacteria (which turns ammonia into nitrates, which then get removed through water changes and absorbed by plants), they don't prevent algae growth at all. Algae is caused by exess nutrients and sunlight, not ammonia. All they would've done by breaking the filter was cause an ammonia spike and die :/ Sorry for the spiel lol

One major detail that you glossed over concerning the whole "going down the drain to get to the ocean" part, is that these are marine fish that are adapted to a saltwater environment, and they would not survive long at all in freshwater.

I love Jellyfish, they are so interesting to me, it's like they are just a floating brain. There is a Jellyfish known as the Immortal Jellyfish also known as Turritopsis Dohrnii that when it gets old enough, it can reverse it's aging process back to being a larva, duplicate itself, then re-age. It is not technically immortal, but it can live for hundreds of years. They are very small, almost the size of a pinky nail. But on the topic of Venom, the most Venomous Jellyfish in the world is the Box Jellyfish as you mentioned, which could cause death from one sting, they mostly live in Australia(Where this movie takes place). One species of Box Jellyfish are called the Irukandji jellyfish, Also smaller than a fingernail can cause marks on the body called Feathering marks like if someone had been struck by lightning. (I did a project on Jellyfish for my Ecology Class)

In Sydney, the toilets and sinks (and all of the rest of the plumbing) runs directly out into the ocean. Bondi Bay, for Sydney proper, in fact. Maybe the warmth would have killed Nemo, but he's a tropical fish, so I doubt it. Probably all of the fish waiting at the end of the pipe 30 meters from one of the world's most iconic beaches certainly would have, though. Aussies. Gotta love them.

Nice video! Keep up the good work in the future. By the way, do you know that there were plenty of factual errors seen in the film when Marlin and Dory were inside the blue whale's mouth? For instance, whale's mouths and throats aren't directly connected to one another, so Marlin and Dory would have more than likely been swallowed by the blue whale or had to force their way out the blue whale's blowhole. In addition, blue whale's throats are not as large as portrayed in the film, only being as large as a grapefruit, dinner plate, or beach ball- though still large enough for Marlin and Dory to fit in. Blue whales have black baleen, while the one portrayed in the film has yellow baleen. And, most noticeably (and unusually), despite being portrayed as having one, blue whales do not have uvulas (the pendulum shaped structure that dangles in the back of your throat), though in the film, it doesn't look too out of place inside the whale's mouth, dangling and moving with the water inside, and the whale was given one as "stage dressing" to make the whale's mouth feel more like a giant cave. P.S. I got some of these facts (e.g. the whale uvula one) on good authority from the film's research consultant himself, Adam P. Summers, who also explained to me that water sadly does not move around inside whale's mouths like a giant waterpark wave pool. However, it would certainly be cool if that was the case. In addition, if whales had uvulas in real life, their throats probably wouldn't look so empty- and that would be cool too.

There are only three inaccuracies about marine biology that I found in Finding Nemo: 1. Barracudas don't eat fish eggs, they eat live prey. 2. Nigel and his friends are Brown Pelicans. Brown pelicans are not found in Sydney Australia. They are found in Florida (the southern eastern parts of the USA). 3. The lifespan of Green sea turtles is up to eighty years. Not one hundred and fifty. By the way, one hundred and fifty is not young for a sea turtle. I want to thank you for spotting something that I have not noticed. Other than that, I still love Finding Nemo, even as an adult. I give it four out of five stars.

Prehistoric marine critters: “Hey, let’s grow some hip bones, turn these fins into legs and go walk on land!” *Several millions of years of trudging along later* Whale ancestors: “Forget this walking thing, I’m going back to swimming. C y’all!”

Hi thank you! I haven´t vlogged that much through my PhD, I think deep down I am not a vlogger. But I guess it depends on what you want to show. Just work or also private life? If you want to vlog at work maybe it is good to plan a bit what you want to show. In my case, there are always a lot of people around who understandably do not like to be disturbed while working, so I had to plan to film when there were less people around. Or you can film and do a voice off to explain what is happening in the video. I´m sorry I do not have much better advice than that, I think I also need some myself ^^ I wish you the best of luck with your channel and PhD!

If you want to free an anomal, and this goes to many animals, do not release it into the wild either. Florida, as one example, has had many had it's reef ecology damaged by released lionfish which is an invasive species. Always buy any pet only after research and with the understanding it is for life, not for a short time. If you cannot look after it anymore, the best place is another pet owner who is aware of it's needs and give it the life it deserves.

Never free fish into your local environment. The fish you free may dominate the local ecosystem by having no predators or introduce a parasite or disease that can damage the local flora or fauna.
