The music hangs in ethereal suspension between Heaven and Earth. It is exquisite and ageless. Perhaps grossly under rated? It deserves far more.

Wunderschöne und lyrische Interpretation dieser fein oder perfekt komponierten Suiten in verschiedenen Tempi mit gut harmonisierten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller genialen Instrumente. Die Virtuosität aller Solisten ist wahrlich ergreifend. Echt ausgezeichnetes Ensemble!

The painting is astounding too, combining very detailed miniature figures, in a classically unrealistic geometrical park, with quite a realistic landscape in the background. The building on the side defies all words, I especially like the little golden carriage....that's my kind of vehicle!

Thank you, Marin Marais's music is good for the soul.

The most curious aspect of Marais score for this extended composition is that it does not specify The use or scoring of an oboe anywhere. Bravo to MP to venture out and embrace the use of an early baroque oboe in this recording. The only downside to the stats are that many viewed or listened to this fabulous recording yet very small numbers warmed to adding favourable comments. Or am I missing out on something?

Alistair, my friend (in KZread)! I have scrolled down, clicking on some of the more nuanced favorable comments already posted. I'm moved to answer your question: I don't think you're missing anything. I think the paucity of comment, if it reflects my own response to this incredibly voluminous presentation of celestial transport is due to the inadequacy of words. What can one say?

Fenomenal! No suprise since Blumenstock is in it. I'd like to know more about the "extra"" pieces, as far as I know there are only 6 trios. I'd like to buy the CDs but cant find them anywhere...

Replying two years later... Those suites are so long that we split them, which we also did in concerts . That's the "extra" pieces

The acoustics are brilliant. No point in playing this chamber music in a dry room or chambre. It doesn’t work, whereas this does.I know reverb can be engineered artificially but this needs a little bit of space. Suave and lusingando……

There's nothing added. That's the sound at Pony Tracks, which was just a big room a rich guy built to house the organ he bought. He also had a collection of tanks...
