Marin Kentfield 2 | For Streets and Paths, it's "Just a Bike" and a darn fine version of that.

Спорт

Do you have a friend or relative who is not "into bikes" but is interested in getting a bike for casual use?
In Bike Shops we're often asked for, "Just a Bike". This is usually by a person who is intimidated by the craziness of road bikes and mountain bikes and literally just wants a bike to use for pleasure, maybe casual commuting, grabbing a few groceries or just exploring pathways and streets around home.
The Marin Kentfield 2 is such a great example of "just a bike". This bike uses modern gearing options to simplify function and reduce hassle for the rider. Basic, mechanical disc brakes give the rider confidence and simplicity. A light alloy frame with a shape that provides comfortable positioning without going overboard rounds out a really nice bike design.
At Bike Bros., we know everyone isn't hardcore, or totally "into" bikes. Having options like the Marin Kentfield allows us to serve these customers with something really well designed and uses modern drivetrain technology to improve the cycilist's experience.

    This seems like the perfect bike for me. Interstingly i don´t see any other brands offer a similar bicycle. I´m just a recreational rider, don´t need any serious performance from a bicycle. Simplicity and reliability is more important. I´m not a fan of the looks, but it´s a great compromise for all the riding that i do. Throw on a rack and panniers, and it makes a great commuter. It´s relaxed and comfortable enough to ride with the kids, but not too relaxed. I could still put some power down if needed. Servicing one derailleur is easier than two, and the gear range is still good enough. And most importantly there´s no silly cheap suspension fork. I had one on my previous bike before it got stolen, and i kept it permanently locked, even while riding on dirt roads. The big tires give enough cushioning, the fork just adds unnecessary weight and maintenance.

    I'm thinking of getting one of these as a third bike. I have am enduro mountain bike for hitting trails and parks, and a DIY ebike for commuting, but want one of these for path riding for fitness and casual rides with the kids. Love the idea of 1x and no cheap suspension fork which are just heavy and noodley and don't actually do much in terms of smoothing out bumps anyway. Those microshift drivetrains are really great value.

    Just found your video whilst researching this bike and thoroughly enjoyed it. Do you know if there's any other difference between the Kentfield 1 and 2 apart from the groupset? The reason I ask is because as you know it's almost impossible to find one of these in stock under the current climate however I've located one of each in my size but the 1 is approximately $250 less than the 2. I'm wondering would it be worth buying the 1 and upgrading the groupset, any thoughts? Thank you

  • @BikeBrosBikeShop

    Kentfield has a much broader range of gears and improved overall drivetrain - features that I think matter a lot in making the Kentfield an enjoyable and practical bike. Though I have never ridden the Cannondale, from the pictures I see online it looks a bit more towards the comfort end of the spectrum, enough so that it is probably sacrificing a bit of pedalling efficiency.

    Why do bike reviewers NEVER GET ON THE BIKE and show us what the riding position generally looks like with an actual human being?!

  • @BikeBrosBikeShop

    @BikeBrosBikeShop

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure why others don't. For me, I've honestly never considered it. This may be partially practical because reviewing a bike in a size that fits me would add one more bit of complexity to getting bikes to review. In addition to that, I'm 6'1 with super long arms and legs so how I look will differ from another 6'1 person (with less wacky proportions) which would be quite different for how the bike would look for people of totally different heights. At some point I think people interested in different models need to venture down to their local shop and test the bike for how it fits and feels. I do like your idea though...
