The music these 6 fellows create as a team is some of the most unique I’ve ever heard.
These dudes are cool as ice ❄️ but some how on fire 🔥

That's awesome! Sounds like electronic music being played by hand, making it more eclectic than technological.

I agree. It's funny how people are trying to create the same things with new ways. The computer has been integrated into almost every art form. People will forget the old ways and have to relearn them later on for what ever reason.
Used to live in Zimbabwe in the 90s. Am glad young people are still learning and playing traditional instruments. Note that the African marimba keys aren't laid out the same as western versions of the instrument - no "black keys" (sharps/flats). Also note their style is to play with only one baton per hand, whereas westerns use two, to play chords.

Yes and no. We do have the marimbas with the piano layout. However, we don't always play with two batons per hand. It really depends on the song if you're playing with two or one per hand. In my school it is very unusual to play with two batons per hand.

@@alexsterckel2511 In most higher level Western style you almost always use 2 mallets per hand (4 mallets total), generally only in orchestral compositions you may have two mallets. When in higher level percussion/marimba specific shows or higher level Front Ensemble music you almost always have to use the 4 mallet technique for marimba for most of the piece. Vibraphone, xylophone, and glockenspiel generally use more 2 mallet than marimba does.

Zimbabwe is amazing
I am from a country where marimba is played but you are the best, love it.
their body movement in sync with the music simply amazing 👏
One of the thing that makes this type of Marimbas stand out is that, unbeknown to most people these instruments have a spiritual undertone to them for traditionally they used to be played at spiritual ceremonies including the mbiras as well. That's why they have great hearty soothing and magical sound to them. Also note that these Marimbas they have a special select wood that they are made of that's why they sound different from the western version of marimbas.
I love how much fun they have playing.
This is something outta this world and that ending is signature legendary 🙌🏾
Like this just for the “rahhh” 😂💪
Love this. I had a Steel Band like this for my 21st birthday dance. It was wonderful.
I have searched far and wide and THIS is still THE best Marimba performance I have ever come across! Points on gentlemen...

I love watching and listening to this as my good morning wake-up invigoration therapy! Only then am I ready to take on the day! (and go to my marimba class)
Nice. I searched for "gourd marimba" and found this. I had wanted to see a traditional African marimba with gourds instead of a European one with aluminum tubes. I think bamboo would also sound nice.. .
