Get in line, pal
For any big Taxi fans out there, the interesting thing about the clip they played is that it appears to contain a line that was cut from the actual broadcast, when Alex asks her if Zifka has a last name she replies "Zabaloplop", I double checked and that isn't there in the final edit.
Great to be able to see all these old clips so easy on You Tube.

This clip reminds me of January 16, 1964. I was home from school. It was 3:24 PM. I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. First, I put on the peanut butter. I opened the fridge and saw that we were out of my favorite raspberry jelly. So I used strawberry, instead. That finished the jar, so I threw the empty jar in the garbage.

My guess is that she found him to be exhausting and his insistence on trolling everybody probably came across as selfish and rude. I can see her point. I would feel the same. It is one thing to troll the world because that is your schtick, but to inflict that 16 hours a day on your fellow professional actors is not necessary.

I doubt she or the cast did. They probably die a little inside everytime they have to pretend he is now a "genius". He was weird and rude, and could be argued harassed the cast under the weird guise it was his Tony Clifton character, then gaslight them pretending they were not the same people. As the guy above said..how exhausting that had to be. What the cast says now about Kaufman is 100% being classy and not speaking ill of the dead and bringing up the bad past.

For the most part, they cut their teeth doing stage acting and many still did Summer Stock theatre when their sitcoms were in summer reruns. In other words, many were “working actors” and took on the philosophy that they must understand people and how people interacted with each other. I think now, there is a narcissistic thing going on where it’s about the continual promotion of a face/ego. Now, there were certainly Divas back in the day (Elizabeth Taylor, etc.) but that existed in its own odd territory in the acting world and it was pretty rarified…and it wasn’t always a compliment.

Do you know that Ms Marilu Henner has the capacity to remember EVERYTHING from when she was a child up to the present day ? Its called a Superior Autobiographical Memory ! For example she can tell what day it was on September 18 th 1964 without reference to a calendar ? She can tell you what she had for dinner on Saturday February 4 th 1973 as another example ? What colour of clothes and which clothes she was wearing on other dates and what the headlines were in the news on all days gone by ? I believe that under 20 people on earth have this otherworldly gift ? I wish i was one of them ...what a life ! PS ..remembering lines for a movie would be a doddle for Ms Henner !

I didn't care for Letterman at this stage. He tried too hard. Later, I enjoyed his calmness.
Fun fact: Marilu has a highly superior autobiographical memory, ( HSAM. ) One of only 100 cases in the world, she can recall past events in near photographic detail. And she's pretty, too.
Dave should have asked her what she was doing the night of the moon landing.
Marilu is a member of a very exclusive club with only 100 members worldwide. She has highly superior autobiographical memory. She can recall memories from every day of her life since her childhood.
This was the best time to be alive... and I was just born. I wish I was the age I am now back then. Darn it.
Sad to say, but her two ex-husbands passed away within a week from each other last year. That must have been a rough patch in her life. She sure can get your attention.

A gorgeous woman❤
She was such a beauty.
You know that woman has a a supernatural memory brain function ? She can remember every single day since she was 12. There is a documentary about that…
Come to think of it, her character did VERY few scenes with Andy Kaufman during the run of the show
Her brother Tom uses her name to get whatever his wants. And he talks a little too much about her private affairs to strangers. Not good.
They cut out Kenny the Gardener.
She has the rare ability of perfect photographic memory so she can repeat in her mind exactly what wrongs Kaufman and others him said or did to her forever.
I love the letterman. I love the show, but it is all about dave back then , he’s grown old and wise and more compassionate with his beard ;)

Andy was so young when he died, just 35.
I forgot how cute she is😮
Why do I think an REM song was written about this episode?
Well obviously Andy had something unpleasant happen between Marylou and himself? She has a photographic memory and total recall. What she should have done is ask what Dave was going to ask her about?
Johnny Dangerously
This is really early and this was very stiff. Letterman was still new and you could see it. Talk about an awkward interview. LOL And Andy Kaufman was a weirdo. The bad stories about him are a lot. Jim Carrey thought he was a genius though and did a movie about him like 25 years ago where everyone showered praise of Kaufman. They even got the Taxi cast to be in the movie by dumping a ton of money on them. And I guarantee they all probably wanted to die pretending that they all loved the guy for that movie and thought he was a "genius" too. None of them did, at all. Only because he died young and the cast was classy that they never dumped on him publicly, other than the veiled things you see here.
That’s alright I never talk about him either

He was NOT a good interviewer back then. People sometimes forget when even legends start out, they are not good from the get go. He was not prepared, had nothing to say to her and the comments he tried to make that were supposed to be funny landed like a dud.
