Steve Rothery is such an underrated guitarist. Fantastic player.

And then come to think of it that Rothers is a self-taught guitarplayer. Last week I saw a part of a clinic he gave in Germany back in 2012 in which he played the solo's from Grendel without any hick-up or difficulty despite the fact that the band Marillion haven't played or performed Grendel in about 30 or more years. It just proves that he's a natural born guitar talent & a true guitar grandmaster.

I saw Marillion 6 times on this tour in 1983. I went to both nights of this gig at Hammersmith Odeon! This was Mick Pointer's last gig as drummer. Amazing memories of this song. They kept it secret that they were going to play Grendel and when they started the song the crowd went wild for ages!! They have only played it once live since this performance!!

I was at this show. I was also at the band's Venue shows, the Reading Festival debut. H's first ever gig and now I get to see them in New York in June. A fan for a long, long time. Marillion fans are the best in the world.

The only full version of the greatest track they ever produced, guitar, vocals, percussion it has it all, the original Marillion at their brilliant best.

I disagree - I think the Reading version, with Andy Ward, beats this one
