Back in 2002 I was the publicist for a beauty brand in NYC and one of our clients was Victoria's Secret. One night we were at a CBS taping for a VS show at the Armory . This was a true Super Model Runway with Tyra, Heidi, Adriana, Naomi, Gisele and Allesandra to name a few. Mark Anthony and Destiny's Child were performing. It was a a night to remember but the thing I will never forget is when Gisele Bundchen was heading down the runway and a woman protesting for P.E.T.A. jumps up onto the runway with a sign that read: " GISELE IS FUR SCUM" and she tripped and fell in front of Gisele. Well Gisele didn't flinch or miss a beat actually she just kept right on going and literally stepped over her with the fiercest attitude as if nothing had happened and then security dragged the woman off the runway! It was kind of amazing. Needless to say they started the entire scene over and the crowd went wild.

Why do you think anyone who works on runways thinks it’s more important than anything else? It's just not that funny. Not when you realize the amount of work it takes to put something like this on, it then becomes extremely not funny. Modeling is a cutthroat industry. It's extremely over saturated. I'm sure there were some new faces trying to walk as best as they could so they get booked again. I'm sure the designers spent hours figuring out the vision for this collection. I'm also sure that the people who are watching this fashion show didn't appreciate the immersion being destroyed by some random person who I guess wanted to go viral on Twitter or something. You distracted from the show, and in turn this could cost people huge opportunities in this cutthroat industry. You really shouldn't do this at any show, regardless of it being a fashion show or not. People see stuff like this and think it's just some frivolous BS they can interrupt, and while it's not roofing in the middle of summer, you're definitely harming peoples careers to boost your own.

To be fair, her infiltration was the most interesting part of the show. "Legacy of beauty, art and design"? Gigi is wearing a sweater with shorts and stockings. Not one design in this entire show is to write home about and all fashion journalists agreed.

Yes that happen in a Broadway musical. In Gypsy, Patti Lupone was doing the final number until she stopped it all because of a guy who was taking flash photos and blinding the others. She told him it was disrespectful and to ask to be taken out. Also something similar happened in Bye Bye Birdie, Ethel Merman was singing and when she got to the last part, she sing two notes from the end, she took a man who was bothering her and throw him out, to return to the stage and finish the last note of the song.

I get that some people don't think fashion is important. I happen to be one of them. But! I still respect that this was someone's art. That they spent time on this show for a long time. It might not be important to me but they worked hard for it. It still deserves respect. And the models are working! They shouldn't have to worry about weirdos jumping onto the catwalk. I’m just saying, this comment should be up there so everyone else can read this…. I’m late and have no idea why this vid popped up in my feed but you’re right- its someones art. You don’t think supermodels are doing anything? sure. I don’t know, I’m not a follower of this industry. But I do know that designers have studied for many years to learn their skills and spent much time coming up with a winning idea that was put on this show. And while Respect (a word often misused in this time) is not to be demanded, you all should have heard this phrase (or something similar) at least once in your life: “Treat others as you would like to be treated”. If you, or others cannot maintain respect for the hard work of other people- regardless of its use or benefits - you should also accept that others may mistreat your own hard work. They may brush it off as useless or something anyone can do, and laugh at you getting angry at someone ruining your painting, architecture, or study results… but while you keep in your mind that the work of others is worthless, you lose the moral ground to argue for respect for your own.
