What’s the Marie Antoinette movie about?
Marie-Antoinette (Kirsten Dunst) is the beautiful, charming, but naïve youngest daughter of Austria's empress Maria Theresa (Marianne Faithfull). She is selected by her mother to marry her second cousin, the Dauphin of France, Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman), and seal an alliance between the two rival countries. However, their marriage will not go as planned, since Louis XVI doesn’t want to have intercourse with Marie-Antoinette. Thus, she can’t get pregnant, which is a problem. She finds solace in buying lavish gowns and shoes, eating elaborate cakes and pastries, and gambling with her lady friends at cards.
The movie narrates her story as Queen of France, as well as her downfall.

he was by all accounts, he was not very handsome he was very shy and preferred his hobbies , his food and his hunting. he was no dashing prince but by all accounts he was very shy and awkward which for a autocratic ruler is not the best quality. but he was a loving father and did Caire for Merie as ime went on and they grew to know one another. I think he was one of the few kings who did not take any mistresses and they were married for about 20 or more years by the time they were executed.

I've read/scene several adaptations of the late King's character and it all boils down to the same thing- He wasn't a bad guy really, he didn't have salacious hobbies like most kings did, and he did genuinely love his family, including Marie, even if it wasn't full out in love with her. Edit to Add: He wasn't a great king persay, but I blame that on age. They were super young, he trusted his advisors who were at his grandfather's side for years, and they used him and confused him on many things, unbothered if his reputation was poor with the rest of his subjects. He's one of the few kings history I actually feel bad for.

yeah he i think like most rulers in Europe who lost there thrones in the last 200 years seemed to be poorly advised and were led astray by scheming nobles. By all accounts when he and Merie actually learned how badly off most of the French people were they were horrified and wanted to help but enough damage had been done and the French had lost confidence in the Monarchy that it did not matter what they did or how well they could have improved life for the French. Sadly to this day many still believe most of the lies told by revolutionary smut peddlers rather than research the truth.
