Mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa sings Massenet's alluring Nuit d'Espagne, accompanied by guitarist Thibaut Garcia. This recording is featured on her album Séguedilles: w.lnk.to/segLY
This piece reflects the spirit of the program of Séguedilles, a project which is inspired by the singer's personal ties to Spain and France. As she explains, "French composers have been fascinated by Spanish culture when they have needed to find new inspiration. In the late 19th century and early 20th century there was a great wave of interest in everything considered exotic ... India, Japan, Africa and, especially, Spain, a country between two continents - Europe and Africa - and two cultures. It was only natural for composers to look for new inspiration and new colors in Spanish music, which is close to French culture, but characterized by different rhythms and dances."

My gosh, her voice! The guitar is excellent. But, wow, her voice is ... indescribably beautiful.
Magnificent voice and flawless musicianship. I am in love with the music of Marianne Crebassa. Love live her wonderful voice and great happiness and good health to her. Many she sing and record as much as she wants in this life time.
I don't know much about this type of music, but my world completely freezes when I hear Ms. Crebassa sing.

Her choices of pieces to sing and record are a help. Always easy on the ears. My favorite mezzo.
Such vocal warmth and richness. She's the one who got me into opera, one of the best mezzos of our time, according to me

Après écoute intégrale du CD en numérique, on est conquis, ébloui par cette voix exceptionnelle, complètement subjugué. Et bien que l'on s'éloigne du répertoire ici défendu avec quel bonheur, je ne peux m'empêcher de rêver d'une interprétation du "Chant de la Terre" de Mahler par cette divine chanteuse. Il me semble que le timbre incomparable de Marianne Crebassa pourrait devenir la référence ultime de ce chef d'oeuvre. Que Madame et Monsieur Warner Classics exaucent ma prière !!!

C'est très beau, bravo ! La réalisation est très belle. Je me demande si l'adaptation à la guitare est l'oeuvre de Thibaut Garcia. Je pense que oui. En ce cas, cette adaptation est très fine (harmoniques, évocation subtile et retenue de la guitare "espagnole"...), ce qui n'étonne pas chez ce musicien sensible et doué. Très belle voix chaude et "enrobante" de Marianne Crebassa. Envoûtante même, ce qui convient tout à fait à la mélodie massenetienne. Massenet, musicien des femmes charmeuses... Bref, comment faire d'une mélodie somme toute assez "classique" (je n'ose pas dire banale) un petit chef d'oeuvre. Il faut faire confiance en Massenet, l'interpréter "droit", sans surinterpréter, la magie de ses mélodies suffit.

Stylistically great ( But, God, what is happening in singing now: all the singers there are who seem to think y can sing with your hands!)
Nice performance, but the recording it is a mess of noises that are disturbing the listening. Please next time use a better location or a low cut filter or Izotope or something... This music and this performers disserves more accurate senses and respect. I know that we are in the age of quickness but please don't fill our ears with this low budget recordings, we all: the listeners, musicians, engineers learn from Warner recordings. Don't make us blind ears... Please. Congratulations to the musicians!

Jose, consider listening only to the beautiful music, not the noise. And remember, the price was right.

I listen to a lot of live music and just filter out noise with no irritation unless its over the top. This wasn't. Its a KZread video, not a CD to keep. I know much less than you do about recording and have a sliight hearing loss too but I am a consumer and I accept a bit of imperfection for the sake of the spontaneity and energy of one take recording .
