I am an elderly white woman. I have always been ashamed of the hypocrisy of that generation. Adults who have the audacity to go to church on Sunday yet behave like bigots during the week. Children have no concept of racism, it is TAUGHT to them. Listening to Ms. Anderson's voice, even through a documentary, brought me to tears. She was beautiful.

I learned the story of Marian Anderson as a child in school, but as an adult, that story has so much more depth. I’m so pleased that she got her flowers while she could still smell them. What a beautiful soul. May she rest in peace; she truly deserves it.

I live in Oregon. We had the privilege of having James DePriest as the first black conductor of the Oregon Symphony. Being a violinist and black, it was a very proud period for me. I have a picture of us together after a performance. He was a wonderful conductor during his time with the symphony. He was Marians nephew.

Many untold stories of American History; The education boards across the USA is shameful. The volume of redact 🇺🇸 Americana history will take another 245 years to be retold. **most of this information is retold from grandchildren who are re-telling the stories, such as Eleanor Roosevelt descendants. I live in Florida. USA history = redacted🤭

Ignorance can be remedied. History can teach us all much, if we pay attention. The DAR is an apolitical organization. The DAR as a group provides hundreds of thousands of hours community service across the US, scholarships, support to an array of people. The DAR is a fabulous group of very caring women. Read more about the DAR online. 1939 was filled with hatred and ignorance. Let’s remember that and not allow this to happen now. ❤
