Nobody has Mariah's combination of insane and ridiculous agility throughout over 5 octaves of range; her dynamics in 'whisper' register (her freakish ability to go from a whispery, breathy chest mixed falsetto, to full on bright and ringing chest belt); her control of texture, her coloratura ornamentation and execution of fioratura in chest, whisper, falsetto, head _and_ whistle register; her ability to _phrase_, intonate and resonate in the upper fifth octave for long periods without fatigue on E5, F5, F#5 and G5 belts; her chest-falsetto transitions and ability to project at absurdly low volumes on such dynamics; transitions from chest-to-whistle and chest-to-head-to-whistle and back; her ability to execute staccati in the upper extremes of whistle register (upper 7th octave); the way she descends and ascends scales while transitioning through registers; improvise on the spot, etc. All while traversing and controlling over 5 octaves of range. These new artists cannot compete with Mariah. Vocally she is one of the best I have ever heard and her entire catalogue is amazing. I'm not trying to down new artists who actually have talent, it's the ones who don't have any talent and are famous for pretty much nothing. This is what people don’t understand when people compare her to other artists who are her contemporaries. None of them match her musicianship.

in terms of vocal talent during her prime years there are literally only a handful of people in the world that can even be in the same room as mariah, but adding her songwriting ability and MAJOR influence on current pop music (beyonce herself says mariah inspired her to be a singer, popularized featuring rappers in pop songs, etc) she is truly a living goddess among mortals.

That said, she has one of the biggest fan bases, no one that was alive in the 90s really ever hates on Mariah because they witnessed it themselves, and they know that she is amazing. It's mostly the younger generation that were born in the 2000s (I was born in 2000, but I'm cultured and not ignorant) that hates on Mariah because they all think the world started existing as soon as they were born. They're oblivious to the huge cultural significance of the music of the previous century. It's really sad, considering everyone has the internet at their fingertips today, all they have to do is use it to do some research and get educated, but they would rather watch TikTok.

Performing live is extremely difficult, the music is so loud and fans screaming and having to move and be entertaining, syncing makes sense a lot of the time even if it can be disappointing, it's very taxing to perform live

What made Mariah stand out to me back in the day when I discovered her and even now that will NEVER be replicated due to its uniqueness is very simply...the beautiful sound and tone of her voice. Many singers can do riffs and runs and all sorts of vocal acrobatics. That never made Mariah unique to me, even though I personally like her runs better than others due to how smooth yet discernible they are. It's like she blends them in perfectly so as to not distract from the song and maintain its integrity. They don't become a show in themselves like they do for others. But that sound of her singing voice that distinct sound from whispery to belty to quiet to loud. It all has that Mariah stamp that is her's and with her through vocal injury to full golden throated glory. It's what I love about her voice the most and is also the most difficult to describe for me, but maybe cause it's actually very simple and one tries to dig into details since it makes you feel so many things. But yes, the sound of her voice. Tone, quality. Mariah.

Aside from being an songwriter, she's a great singer too... i will acknowledge her first for her amazing songwriting ability.
