@@realestateinbedduringcovid647 Mariah has always said that she is first of all a songwriter and then a singer, she always wrote the lyrics of every song except the covers and then produced the song, and then composed the melody on the piano with a composer. She recorded a song called "Almost home" for Disney and she always said she hates that song , and there are almost only covers in the "Merry Christmas" album and she herself said it was terrible to record them, despite these tracks have vocals for days especially "Jesus what a wonderful child" which is totally out of this world, and "O Holy night". She has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard and her vocals are completely unmatched but when an artist hates singing songs she hasn't written because she wants to be involved in the whole song creation process deserves a lot more respect, people like her, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson will always be in a higher class compared to simple interpreters or cover singers.

Mariah has written 95% of the lyrics to her songs; most of the ones that she hasn't are covers.

Such a difficult song to sing. It requires immense breath control, supreme vocal control, astonishingly accurate melismas and riffs, pinpoint octave leaps, stellar vocal dynamics, but most of all... it requires the singer to not only have excellent mixing technique, but to be able to sing in the middle of their voice, usually where it cracks. Phew! This is vocal suicide and why it deserves to be in the Top 5 Mariah Carey songs not to try at home!

We share a unique pain sadly. I lost my bf, He was killed in a head on collision on his way to work one morning. That morning was the last time I saw alive. The last words we said to each other were I love you babe... I was so angry with myself. Why didnt I stall him, talk to him more that morning, made him breakfast or hugged him and held onto him more. I blamed myself, partly. Would an extra 5 mins have saved his life?? Instead of feeling all the pain of his loss I tied it up with anger at myself for awhile. We met in college. We moved in together after college. He was working his first "real" job. We had so many "firsts" together. I stayed in our apartment for another year. I left all the pictures up, everything the way it was. I would be watching tv and look at the clock and wonder what time he would be home and then quickly realize he was never coming home. I would wear his hoodies and sweaters, i could smell him on them. I cried myself to sleep like that, wearing his clothes, many days and nights. It was a very hard and long year. I had decided that when my lease was up and it was time for me to move out that I would box everything up and donate it. Move those good memories of us into storage in my heart and start new. It was very cathartic. I still have a few things of his. He still has a Myspace page, that tells you how long ago it was....

Honestly one of the most brilliant and expressive songs I’ve ever heard.
