she sings effortlessly, it's amazing how easily she transitions from a "normal" ranged note to the high ones. PURE TALENT, she is one of the greatest singers of all time.

I saw her in Milan in April, for the first time and she was amazing! People complains about some dubbed parts, but honestly I don't care... She sang Emotions (Thanks God it was on the show!! Because she left off most of her old catalogue in the European tour!) and she sang it flawlessly! :) She hits the high notes with the whistle register and I was almost dying for joy, I can't believe my ears! I lost my voice, how much I screamed and yelled at her... She will never know me, of course, but now I can say... I saw a LEGEND that day, no matter how many years pass, how many rock songs I listen to today... Mariah Carey will be always my favorite, like the first time I put on her CD in the stereo back in 2002.

I think that it's time for some lambs to stop paying attention to these types of statements because you're letting these people get under your skin. No matter how many times you respond with the same response, they're just always going to say the same thing, so why waste your time? Some don't get that her voice has evolved along with her music, that she's a different person now to who she was at the start of her career, let them not like that because it's clear that they don't appreciate how far she's come. '90s Mariah was amazing and 2019 Mariah is amazing also. People get so fussy over the little changes she has made over the years concerning her voice and her music but in many ways, some changes needed to happen. Her technique, for example, it worked for her during the '90s but once near the end of 1996 to 1997 she obviously couldn't keep up with the same technique she used to do, so she had to change how she approached her singing. That change basically kept her going, till now or at least till after Rainbow.

Mariah set the bar extremely high at her prime, the good part is that she could gave us performances like this, and the bad is that people expect to much from her now.

Mariah is at her absolute prime here. She plays with her voice like it's nothing. Really wish we have the undubbed version of this show to behold Mariah's real vocals in their full glory 🙏💛

No one comes close to Mariah in her prime in the 90s. She was on fire.

I don't know how to explain it but she smoothed out the punchier way she sang earlier before this era. The result is a much more pleasant sounding version. The original is still gangsta but this is smooth like butter. 93-97 Mariah was vocally unstoppable

That smile at 2:40 is absolutely everything.

One small detail strikes me as so amazing in this performance. At 3:31 When she first starts doing her whistle, her notes start getting a little sharp. Around a half note higher than what they should be. As she does the middle whistle she realizes she won’t be on key if she doesn’t do something. So instead of hitting the note regular, she riffs her whistle down at 3:39 which helps her get right back on key where she should be and finish. Not many performers would know to do this but to hear such a small change Mariah did in order to catch herself and fix what was going on meanwhile the crowd didn’t notice and she never missed a beat. She truly is one of the greatest to ever live.

Lets just not talk about the whistle notes. The overall singing is just supreme, utter pitch perfection in spite of all those moving around. Her tone is just so balanced and unfettering even under so much cheering and noise from the crowd, and her tone is so rich & sweet at the same time, she even adds few extra riffs and runs and some new movements and dynamics here and there. Key really does not matter that much, what ultimately affects our ears is the composition and the delivery. And those belts with those amazing full rounded sound is NOT easy to do even in scaled down key.

Her high notes are extremely impressive for sure, but nobody says much about her lower range. Her entire voice is very supported and full, the lower register is rich and clear. She also has spectacular control over her pitch, she can ascend in range extremely quickly and smoothly. A truly incredible member of the holy trinity of female vocalists. I wish she could still sing like this so I could see her perform to her fullest ability in person. I was born in 2000, so I guess these videos will have to suffice.

A time where everyone just enjoy the concert without a smartphone!

She described this specific performance day when she realized all the streets were closed and fans outside were for HER. She was shielded from fame but realized she had the power of fans. You can see the joy in her face.

I used to nail the whistle notes when I was 11. Now I can hardly reach the "inside". Yeah, growing up sucks.

I saw in an interview that growing up Mariah felt like she never fit in because she was half white and half black. It makes me so happy watching her performances and seeing an audience of all colours: black, white, mixed, etc. She found where she belongs: on the stage bringing people together! SHE DID THAT! Plus how many other mixed girls have watched her and been inspired as well? I hope she and all women of colour feel loved and accepted. I’m so proud of her, she is a living legend and should be respected as one always.

Lambs typically say how Daydream was her vocal peak but they tend to forget how this era was her "ultimate" prime. Her change of vocal placement (and overall vocal development) made her voice really solid from bottom to top (in terms of modal voice).

@@blacksheet490 Uhm nope. She was good at upper belting during Daydream era but Music Box (except tour) takes the cake on everything else. Her tone is also much fuller (and healthier) during this era. Daydream era might be on par until late 1995, 1996 not so much as she was very tired and whiny in her performances.

The reason why Daydream was her peak because there was almost no flaws during her performances and as well as her concerts. Musix Box era I guess 60% was perfect. She had a lot of sick and tired performances during this year because during this time she debuted her very first concert tours in which she had to adopt and adjust especially her nervousness. Then Daydream came where she could let her voicr fly freely with a nasal placement but rested and confident. Then after that Butterfly camd which her voice was rounder , bigger and louder than Daydream.

@@blacksheet490 Daydream has a lot of flaws live (phrasing, intonation, inconsistent placement, vowel choices, overly-bright belts) except for MSG 1995, while Music Box Mariah live, when rested has much fewer flaws.

At 3:43 she was like "Oh good the song is over I can rest now" and started walking away but then at 3:45 she was like "Oh wait there's another line" and quickly turned back lmao

She has the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. One of the many things that make her unique is that she has dark deep and rich low notes and clean bright angelic belts. Plus she always keep the resonance in every note. Queen! 👑

A lot of singers can only get near the note, but none of them are really able to make a smooth transition, go from low to high immediately (a lot need to try & transition through multiple notes before they get to the whistle note), or hold it

I remember when I was in Grade School my papa bought a CD with all the songs of Mariah Carey. In Karaoke, all my song choice was Mariah's... Actually my name could've been Mariah Karen, but my papa's co-worker that time needs a name for his baby too, so instead of me being "Mariah", it became my friend "Mariah"

Mariah in her prime was UNTOUCHABLE, period. No comparison between her and anybody else, except maybe for Whitney. Everyone else is a wannabe compared to this, and the fact bubble gum pop stars like Ariana get compared is foolish and disrespectful. The voice and the vocal power are incomparable, but it's not just that: it's her talent as a composer, her flawless pitch, her charisma, the fact she's one of the best-selling and most successful singers in history financially speaking, the fact that she became an icon that influenced everyone else....it's everything, it's the whole package.
