I'm a huge fan of Mariah but I never notice how beautiful her voice quality really is. But Morisette's Wish perf of Akin ka na lang is a beast!!! Gosh how can she sing like that!

Mariah Carey is the queen, legend, The Songbird. No one can deny that. Mori loves MC. She has always said that she's a lamb. She has the talent and skills to pull off an MC song. Not every singer can do that. So, good for her. I hope she can be a big star someday.

For the lambs who said shit about her, Glennis Grace covered a lot of Whitney songs and Whitney stans did not bash her. Mori is a lamb like us but she CAN SING! We should respect her.

This kind of video, however, encourages haters. Morissette has never claimed to be the new Mariah. In fact, she has always shown great respect for MC. It’s too bad some of MC’s fans can’t be respectful toward other singers. I love being able to listen to both of these singers. I don’t think anyone will ever “replace” The Queen, but I can still appreciate how very good Morissette is.

That’s a very fair comment. I do think that with 18 #1 singles, some MC fans shouldn’t feel insecure or be so annoyed when commenting about a singer from the Philippines who has never charted in the US. Please note, that I’m only talking about some fans on both sides. I think most of us can appreciate/love both of them.

@@clarkbryce6703 I agree that there are many people that have and will still listen to Mariah but the majority of teens from 12-18 do not know or have ever listened to Mariah, the music industry has completely changed and she is not really on the radar anymore. Not to say that she is not a great artist, but you hear Mariah's songs not on the main pop radio stations anymore, but more on the "throw back" stations. You and I have listened to her growing up, but I can't tell you how many younger people I meet and talk to about music and they can't name one Mariah song other then, "All I want for Christmas is you". Mori covered her song, "fly like a bird" and on all the original mariah music posts, so many people write "I'm here because of Mori". So in my opinion her covers are putting her music back on people's radars. Which is a good thing.

So many haters have nothing to do with their life except bashing. Can we stop the hate please. We know that Queen Mariah can never be replaced by someone because all of us are who we are. We’re all unique, same can be said for Morissette.

Mariah's Performance was actually nearly Perfect except for the latter part of her whistle which is quite shaky. On the other hand, Morissette's performance was a combination of Mariah's 1990 & 1996 rendition of Vision of Love. Mori's performance was excellent, although she's still grasping for air on the lower notes and a shaky "Owowowo..." run at the end of the song. For me, Mariah's performance here has a score of 9.5/10. While Morissette's performance is 9.3/10 I will give Mariah's Vision of Love Madison Square Garden 1996 & Saturday Night Live 1990 performance a 10/10 so I can justify my score for perfection. It's my personal opinion. Nevertheless, both performance are great although Mariah still won this battle. ♡

This Is the worst performance of Vision of love by Prime Mariah, because she was agitated, even several after her primes are better than this. Morissette skip low notes, and the last run Is sloppy, Mariah still wins but this is the easiest version, try to compare at Vision of love GMA or Vision of love Arsenio hall, there she complicates the final run a lot,there she complicates the final run a lot, covering 2 octaves and ending with an incredible deep and resonant low note. And also Vision of love Saturday Night live 1990 Is incredibile.

I love both singers actually. And I really see mori as a singer of her own (tone, techniques and all) and not copying mariah. She was just bashed because 1. She has a whistle register too, like mariah, but since we, lambs, used to hear mariah's whistle first, we made mariah's whistle the standard of what perfect whistle register is. Such that when we hear other singers, especially those who covers mariah's songs, we really tend to compare theirs to the original mariah. 2. Because she covers too many mariah songs, w/c I think is really ok. I too, admit that I sing mariah's songs (really trying hard even though I sound like a dying cat). Well, we can't blame mori for covering mariah's song, she's a fan. She's her inspiration. Let's admit she can sing mariah's song, if not perfectly like the original, but atleast decent enough to hear (Unlike me). Mariah's my inspiration too, though I don't post covers of my singing because I think It would sound like an overkill of her song instead of paying respect and tribute to hers. (I'm sorry for having an ugly voice mariah). Admittingly, mori did great justice to vision of love in her own way of interpretation. But I prefer mariah's because I think VOL really suits her voice. Clean, vocally perfect, right amount of vocal power. Mori's voice has a grit to it and I think her voice suits rock ballads. But I really aplaud mori for this VOL cover. 👏👏 Ps. Morissette's problem is usually her larynx disposition XD when she dives to her lows she forces her larynx down even if she can opt to be more chesty before her lowering her larynx like Mariah does. In her high notes, she can still have low or high larynx. No neutrality at all.

Jikook Sailing On A Rainbow Unicorn Maybe I don't search Morisette's videos enough, but I don't see her fans disrespect Mariah nearly as much as lambs disrespect her or nearly as much as other filipina fanbases(Regine definitely comes to mind) disrespects Mariah. Morisette has never called herself "the New Mariah" or marketed herself that way. If fans or the media spin her that way, that's not on her and the hate is still undeserved.

Because those insecure lambs want to sing like this and they want to be the one who should be singing Mariah's songs, not anyone. If you know what I mean. *Overrated?* But she's one of the least number of average or above average vocalists that Philippines had. The girl is capable of riffs and runs and holding notes without pitch wavering. Her skill suggests good breath control and overall technique. It's rare nowadays to find a singer who consistently supports A3-C5-F5/F#5 with good projection, control, dynamics, placement and stamina. *Copycat?* She actually has good musicianship, she's the only one in the country who made covers in her own unique and stylistic way (if you listen to her other vocals). She modifies notes and melodies in the songs she sings - selecting to put more runs or chance for a sustained belt. Her famous cracks and squeaks also gives her voice some character and personality. And she's only one of the few who can give justice to Mariah Carey songs and reach all the soaring high notes. Your point is?

With as much shit that Mariah gets from the media AND the younger generation who don't even think she can sing anymore, you'd think lambs wouldn't give people who cover her such shit. I LOVE when young artists cover her songs and have a genuine love for Mariah but then Lambs tear them apart without any positives. They're gonna run her away from Mariah songs just like they did with Ariana and keep perpetuating this stigma around Mariah and the fan Base as a whole, which is partly true cuz lambs can be toxic asf. Basil Balahay damn I dint know she existed, she's a beast. The problem is koren mic quality is the best in the world while The Filipino girl was mostly pure quality, but I still she's super talented although C#6 was headvoice/mixed. Honestly I'm not a fan of above G#5 because its became way to sharp less chest focused. I prefer mimi kinda tone chest focused, wide and strong.

You'll never appreciate how great Mariah is just after comparing her to other vocalists. You can see that there are over 30 vocal registers/techniques in just a single performance. Her voice has a lot of colors. The other one sounds dull on the low notes. Yes, she can do low notes, it's low but it's just... low. Mariah has melisma every time she hits a low note so it still sounds pleasant. Wow! Vocal Bible!

Well all i can say thats the true talent. Than more background music than vocals just like pop. I really admirer RNB and Power Belting Ballads.

As if it's a sin to sing Queen Mariah's songs. Whew! Being first doesn't mean you're the Greatest. Time will come new vocalists will rise with much better vocals, much better style, tone, range, dynamics and resonance than these two vocalists. I love Mariah for showing her great talent and for being an inspiration to all new singers. And i appreciate those who sings Mariah's songs until this very day. This will help the new generation to not forget the Great Legends from the past. If no one will cover their songs they will be left forgotten in the past. God Bless all those who love Queen Mariah.
