The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz claiming his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek claiming her third Grand Slam title. Not just when they were playing, but when they were in top form - and they weren't pure aggressive baseliners but excellent net players much more versatile than the current WTA Top 100. Sharapova, despite being called one-dimensional, did rely on strategy and variety (swinging volleys, dropshots, lobs) when she couldn't dominate with only her serves and returns and angles.

I’ve to say she was a hard worker especially with 2 Roland Garros . I always thought she had more chance of winning another Wimbledon or us open than French open 😂. So impressed with the way she stayed focused even with the amount of endorsements she had . Tough mentality
What a champion! I love watching her play. She had the skills, but what was most special about her was clearly the mental discipline to take control of her reactions to frustration and elevate her game when she needed it most, or simply the steely will to fight until "Game, set, match".
Never mind the haters, but I love Masha! Her grit and toughness was so unique. It made her really stand out! And just add that pretty face, please!

I feel sorry for the haters. They missed out on a rare talent that rarely comes along in pro tennis. So many women lack the consistency Maria had rarely win more than 2 Grand Slams. They're missing out. Probably not even tennis fans to begin with...

I remember watching that win over Justin like it was yesterday! I just couldn't believe what I was watching. :) And some of those highlights with her scrambling were INSANE! Masha was just so much fun to watch!

Halep was one of those who blamed Maria the most for cheating with steroid use and this was their first meeting after Maria returned from disqualification. Currently, Halep herself has been banned for a long time for using steroids.

Probably cause she went through many tough matches before even getting to the final and the final alone was extremely tough, there where times in the match that it looked like Halep was going to win. That and coupled with the fact that it was the first time she won a Grand Slam twice and this being clay, a surface which she hated, made this all a very sweet and emotional victory 😊
