Hello, fellow bisaya here. I believe that english is less spoken during those times. There were people who went to Europe to study that's why Crisostomo Ibarra was able to speak english. I feel like that GMA won't change the plot and Ibarra won't fall in love with Klay. According to their creative consultant and head writer, they have historians on the whole process so I feel like they will still follow the original plot.

yep, spanish and tagalog were mostly spoken at that time but there are people who were sent to Europe to study (mostly men bcs u know…) so it’s kinda required for them to atleast learn english but there are also women (mostly from elite families) who knew how to write and read english. I don’t know how but my guess is that they learned it from reading or they left the country at a young age and have lived in Europe for a long time to know English.

I feel like Manilyn-Barbie Dialogue about love could be in the end. Barbie: "Kasi Ma di'ba? Kapag mahal mo ang isang tao, dapat di mo sinasaktan" Manilyn: "At hindi mo rin iniiwanan" It feels like... What if Klay had gone back to the present time and decided to leave Crisostomo behind? That dialogue felt like a wakeup call for Klay that she shouldn't have left Crisostomo if she truly loved him. Or maybe I'm over analyzing. LOL. I loved this kind of shows that even if it wasn't started yet, I already theorizing 😂

It's because of her father is abusive, hence the line "pag mahal mo hindi mo sinasaktan". She wants to advise her mother to leave her father, but her mother said when you love someone, you also don't leave them.

I think that conversation is more fitting to Maria Clara and Ibarra's love story too...since Maria Clara truly loves Ibarra kahit a lot of people are against him na. Underrated na for several ang story na Noli me tangere at el filibusterismo but if you have read several things about rizal and his work you will know how deep the stories are and still connected sa panahon ngayon…yes they do speak english back then Pero sa mga mayayaman lang to tinuturo at mostly sa mga lalake walang privilege ang mga babae at mahihirap sa edukasyon na meron tayo ngayon

Love triangle in this kind of plot always goes downhill. Remember Leandro Flores - Carmerlita Montecarlos - Juanito Alfonso love triangle? I'm guessing it wouldn't be like that here. But it is, I think it'll add more darker touch to its already dark story. (Cause admit it, Noli Me Tangere don't end in rainbows and flowers)

Actually it was based on Jose Rizal Noli me tangere, and also Rizal can speak I guess 7 languages so it is not impossible if they include some English word into that novel. ( I'm not sure if it had a English word)

I beg to disagree, there are lots of morena artistas, like gabbi Garcia, Kathryn B., glaiza De Castro, and more. It's just that, many people right now want to have lighter skin, because of foreign influences (kpop, western, etc.).

Yes nag sasalita Ng English dati pero Ang marurunong lang non eh ung mga mayayaman na nakapag aral sa Ibang bansa. Usually mga lalake lang din Ang mga nakakapag aral noon. Kaya bibihira lang talaga Ang marunong mag English noon pero yes may mga piliino na marunong mag english noon. Yung mga babae naman eh focus lang sa gawaing Bahay.

Nirerepresenta nya ang isang social climber. Ang gusto nilang mag asawa(Don Tiburcio) na circle ay mga matataas na tao lang. I remember her clearly, dahil nung may play kami nung HS, we did a cross-gender role playing, at sakin napunta yung role nya. It was a fun experience.

To answer the thing about English, yes the really educated, elite ones can speak it (Rizal was one of them), lastly for the underwear thing, I don't think corsets were a thing for us here since our clothes did not require the same shape and structure as the ones from the west. Our undergarments as far as i know included linen chemise or sando, and layers of linen skirts (which can be likened to petticoats). Idk if they wore anything under that but it's fairly common even in the west to have nothing underneath the skirts lmao

Oh no I am not insulted. I just wanted a morena character for Sisa. In my defense, I do not know Andrea Torres and any GMA actresses for that matter so I do not know that she's a legit morena. I thought it was just makeup. Performance wise, Andrea is great. I enjoyed watching her as Sisa.
