I wish you would have used the live La Scala Ballo which sees Callas and Pippo giving it everything they've got to a public who at the time adored them. I also much prefer the 1958 Dallas Medea which is one of the 20th century's greatest nights in the theatre !
Why you picked the 1956 studio Un ballo in maschera instead of 1957 La Scala?

Because the studio recording has a better sound and it is as spirited as the live one. I love Votto's conducting.

Callas sounds so much better in the live La Scala. She always sounds better live. I hate that we don't have a live Gioconda 😢😢😢
