yeah you have to wonder with some of this stuff. I know in the past there have been a few 'high sage-type gurus' out of India who were credited with various psychic abilities. Now I appreciate there have been a lot of real con artists but just occasionally there were ones like Neem Karoli Baba who consistently read the thoughts of people in ways that could never otherwise have been known, just like Blaine appears to do here. I'm not saying I believe as such but it would seem there have been these ones.

Not really as every trick he's even done can be explained and done if you know how. Mental tricks like this become less "magic" when you understand how it works. Tricks like this you just research the person. You can also ask their friends personal questions or have someone in on it. A lot of ways to do tricks like this.

Theres a frame in second 29 that shows both cards he caught, none of them being two of diamonds. Whatever he did while pinching the cards afterwards did the trick (no idea how tho). Also, notice how he just doesn't straight up makes her think of something, and make the read. He makes her use the cell phone. Again, not sure how he's doing it, but it opens up a bunch of possibilities.

Notice that none of the cards that hits Blaine is red. He pushed the guy to pick one of only a couple red cards before the video started. Then he subs in the card during the flurry. He's the best at the schtick and publicity but this is majik. Controlling the options and slight of hand. A fella in Varadero once knocked my socks off with the same stuff. A Finnish magician Timo Tuomivaara did a trick in the 70's in which he asked a person to pick up a card from a deck and then open a phone book and choose randomly someone's phone number and make a call to that number. If the call was answered, Tuomivaara told the caller to ask the recipient to choose a card from an imaginary deck of cards. The card the recipient chose was the same as the one the caller had picked up from the deck prior to the phone call.

Will Stack dude I never said that he actually caught the card, matter of fact I know he didn’t catch the card cuz he’s a magician, he tricks people for a living. Of course he didn’t fucking blindly catch it and I’ll never believe he did. That’s how magicians work. I was simply saying that you cannot be sure wether the trick is genuine or staged simply by watching the video, and claiming that you do just makes you come of as pretentious.

He is one of the greatest of all time, but theres people like Houdini and Max Malini that invented so much of modern magic, then people like Ricky Jay that compile and expand upon that. As well, hist largest claims to fame are not magic at all, but feats of human endurance. In that subset of performance art, he is the most influential and greatest of all time. I guarantee if you asked Blaine if he thought he was the greatest magician of all time he would just laugh.

I think this has something to do with the lizard brain theory. That a person will always react in some way to the reference to the thing they want to keep secret. It has to do with our evolutionary instinct. We always react to danger no matter how subtle that reaction is. When he said all those letters, maybe she involuntarily gave subtle body language or facial clues which helped him guess the correct answer.
