Marcus Mumford: Debut Solo Album and Childhood Trauma | Apple Music

Музыка

Marcus Mumford sits down with Zane Lowe for a deeply personal conversation around his debut solo album, '(self-titled)'.
Mumford mentions that his album is not just for his listeners, it’s for himself, and his healing process. Marcus explains this album is a product of the best type of friendship, where he felt his friends were not doing the healing but were always along to support. Those friends that Marcus worked with to make this album feel like the best expression of his journey include music legends such as Blake Mills, Brandi Carlile, and Elton John

Ive met Marcus a few times. Him and his wife used to come to my restaurant in Arvada Colorado on the weekends and after he came home from tours with mumford and sons. The absolute nicest guy you could hope to run into. My buddy owns a guitar shop up the street from my old restaurant, which we sold in 2017, but Marcus pops in to the guitar shop every now and then. Hes still a humble guy despite the success and fame.

This honestly was what helped me decide to go to therapy. A lot of help from friends and I still have a lot to muddle through. But Mumford’s album brought up a repressed memory and I’m taking steps to take back my days.

I've seen Marcus play 6 times with Mumford and Sons and they were some of the best times of my life. They do not compare to my excitement to see him perform this album solo, though. I will be seeing him open this tour in Boulder on Monday and I just know it will be more than I could ever imagine. Marcus is a truly gifted musician and to see him live is the greatest gift of all.

Outside the lyrical content, which is gorgeous in its own right, the production on this album is just absolutely flooring. There are moments in the production that are so hauntingly beautiful that it invokes almost more emotion than the lyrics themselves

Awesome interview. It explains a lot of where Marcus has been, is, and is heading. Thank you for bringing out the truth about the recording. I've listened to the record, and honestly believe it is his best work, to date. Thank YOU, Marcus, for your steadfast honesty, too, as I can see a changed man before us.

This sounds ridiculous but I feel like I grew up with Marcus. I was a fan from the early early M&S days and I’m 31 now. What a journey he’s been on and you can tell how much more mature and grounded he is now. It’s refreshing. Can’t wait to see him in Portland tomorrow!
