So good, the master. Real music for musiclovers... Aint no repeating himself. Marcus has the blues, funk, jazz and soul like no one else. Comparing him to other great bassists is not possible everyone is unique, but Miller has been the greatest most influential player since he started. Sure he does a lot of slapping but his style is nothing about the technique och skills, just plain and simple feeling the the whole tune.

That exercise he plays at 2:33 is the one Jaco showed him in a hotel room, I've seen Marcus talk about that day and this specific exercise in various interviews

Real Deal....period!! S*+t’s Swingin’ hard !great tone,Amazing feel,phrase and time.... playing f blues (be-bop) On electric bass And never sounding like typical bassist is an art... All non jazz players should really start to listen and try playing more music of Duke,Monk,Parker,Miles,Trane,Mingus,Evans,Nat King,Sinatra,Satchimo, Etc....... and maybe,just maybe by understanding this ....you’ll learn to appreciate what’s happening on this iPhone video..... His style has evolved all the way from the late 70s to the present. Nice cover of "Is this love" by the way but man you seriously need to upgrade what you know of Marcus. Yeah.. I had to really search for clips of him playing fingerstyle... He does fingering very well like someone has said... find a track of his called Moons(fretless), and another called Rebop... Man's a true boss.

Well, he played with tour and record for Roberta Flack, Luther Vandross, Bryan Ferry, Lenny White, etc. I don't think he would have been getting all of that session and touring work if he only thumbed. Okay, so Marcus even his bass makes squeaking sounds sometimes. It's not just me, strings make noise, so do frets. Can you hear the high pitched ring ?. 0:26 ?. Is that a washing machine going ?. Marcus fingers are like steel cables, clamping down making those strings cry in pain ?.
