I mean watching your friends and family die all around you, while your still alive to suffer through it is definitely sad, and due to having so many close relationships with the soldiers and his friends it definitely hits Marcus hard, even if he isn’t responsible for their deaths.

I have a theory when B Carmine died it traumatized Marcus pretty hard. Like he promised him they would see the surface. In Gears 3 he even had nightmares of him and his brother. RIP B Carmine. You gotta add their deaths in. Gotta keep editing, the Carmines was the one of the reasons why Marcus hated the war because they were just kids.

I honestly fear for GOW6 I highly doubt they would do the effort to make both choices an option. One death has to be canon and I fear JD will die no matter what you chose. Which is why I really find it odd they gave us an choice to begin with. It just pisses on most of the fanbase that chose to save JD.

I think doms whole reason for fighting as hard as he did was because he was looking for Maria. After that incident in gears 2 he had nothing to live for and even though saving everyone he found a way out in gears 3 and he took it.

I already knew when I saw the trailer that he would die. He just layed back and let it happen signaling he was more then read to die. Which I understand he's a broken man he lost his kids and his wife what other reason would he have to keep going ? He wasn't suicidal so he would never take his own life, but going out in a blaze of glory saving his friends...He didn't hesitate for a second.

Dom’s death will forever stay as one of the most depressing deaths in my history of gaming. He was more than just a brother to Marcus and the player, you literally shed sweat, blood and tears for one another.

It's amazing how linking the gameplay and story makes these emotional impacts so much stronger. He wasn't just a character Marcus talks to in cutscenes or to hand hold you through the lore dumps, the player has spent the entire series fighting alongside him, and getting assisted in combat. You get attached to him regardless of whether you like the actual character because youve most likely been saved by him from dying and having to reload a checkpoint a dozen times over the course of the series

I think gears shines at making the characters feel real. There ramble, there friendship, and sad moments, great voice acting. They all seem like totally real people

What really makes Del's death hurt is how Marcus goes to JD because he truly understands what JD is feeling in that moment.

But Benjamin, even still a single game, he was still a lovable character and felt human, he felt like somebody who was fighting for his family back home, while still young, then the poor bastard got the most painful death anyone could ever imagine, Benjamin had the worst death humanily possible, dom probablly died, after the first or 2nd explosion with Benjamin he was probley having his stomach lungs, ect dissolve and get eaten for, hours maybe?

It was absolutely terrifying when I first saw that moment I had a tear rolling down my eye. I was so happy for Dom...Boy did I get a shock seconds later. I've seen pictures of Auswitch survivors that looked in better shape. What the hell did the grubs do to them.

Gotta love how Marcus almost always knows when something bad is about to happen but he don’t know who it’s gonna happen too or how it’s gonna happen

Still puts me in tears seeing doms sacrifice.

Of all gaming heroes I feel marcus is my personal favorite for being a stoic badass and also a man of emotional maturity. I truly feel his pain and relate to him as a man against the odds, in a desperate attempt to save Sera he holds to his convictions of virtue. You a real G Marcus. Bothers till the end.

Marcus was one of the first mainstream shooter protagonists that they allowed to be vulnerable. It's what makes him so interesting. He's not just this growly tough guy, you see how the war and the loss is weighing on him and all he can do is just push on. And now he's having to watch it happen to his son too

When dom found maria, it just showed that he saw her inner beauty through all else. Respect

what hurts is that Marcus and Dom were brothers since childhood. Marcus was born into a rich family and Dom a fairly wealthy family. Marcus didn't have friends till he met Dominic Santiago. their friendship grew to a brotherhood. till one fateful day in Mercy.

I can’t count the amount of times this series has made me emotional. One of the most underrated game series in gaming history, people don’t give it enough credit. The best shooter series and the most emotional i’ve ever played through. It’s story still continues to amaze me after experiencing it all so many times. These three were the most memorable death scenes to me.. Ben’s death. Dom’s death. Adam and Myrah’s deaths.

Same here. All of my older brothers used to play the shit out of gears. I remember when gears 4 came out and my older brother got to the part where Marcus was trapped in the pod and tears almost formed in his eyes until Marcus started puking. I'm only 13 but I adore this series to death. Just hoping that one day the entire franchise is ported to the PC.

Dom’s death was the saddest moment I’ve experienced in a video game.

Still remember the trailers to all these games. You just knew you were in for an emotional story every time a new one was released

The never ending war between the COG and the Locust has cost the Fenix family everything. Friggin epic story. The only thing to do is to pick up a Lancer and a Gnasher and fight on.

No. Right before that scene even comes up they’re in the house of sovereigns talking about how Marcus trial went and Minh says some loyal but disrespectful stuff and dom claims the trial was a sham. 13:48-14:29 that there is why I chose to save JD over Del. As heartwrenching was it to see JD and Kait mourn his death (not to mention cliche-ish to off him just when he was getting some proper character development), I simply couldn't bear breaking the news to Marcus that his son... Yeah.

9:15 the chapter after this was one of the hardest in gaming Marcus didn’t even carry himself the same after that

Watching Dom sacrifice everything was the first time I felt anything for a videogame. I know this is far fetched but it would be cool to end the entire series with them in heaven or some afterlife with them all living together in peace, with myrah as family since she is related. What was sort of funny in gears 5 was that when Marcus loses his son, he's quietly just saying "Oh no, that sucks" But 10 minutes later when he thinks Coal train dies he's freaking out with more emotion on his face Poor James

Nobody talks about Marcus's reaction to Kim's death. I always got the feeling that Marcus hated Kim for being so by the book, but at the same time, seeing Marcus's expression when Kim died, I dunno. It makes it seem like Marcus really respected Kim a lot despite their differences. Almost like Marcus didn't really mind Kim's leadership style in the end. Sometimes I wonder how things would have went if Kim wasn't separated from Delta when the king raven crashed. At the same time though, seeing how Kim wanted revenge on Raam for killing Alicia, and then getting killed the exact same way, it makes it even sadder. I really liked Kim.

Okay so, I think that the final boss in Gears of War 6 should either be (1) Kait as the new locust queen or (2) the locust king who is Renya's father cause I WANNA KNOW WHO THE HECK HE IS!!! Also I want Marcus back! I WANT MARCUS TO BE tHE MAIN CHARACTER AGAIN! OR AT LEAST A PLAYABLE CHARACTER!

I would think the characters come depending on who you kill at the end of gears 5, so for example if you save JD then marcus comes as ther third person but if you save del you get jack or Dave

from what i understand the canon choice is jd live; the father is the protagonist of gears tactis Gabe Diaz the final boss will be the queen reyna

Dude the part that almost makes me cry everytime is when dom finds his wife all messed up from the locust and he is so sad by all that work and hope to find her was just shattered and for nothing. Gears of War 2 really hit you in the feels just like the rest of the series

Damarion Johnson Games today are more cinematic experiences then just a video game. Your basically playing though a movie in story mode. If you look at old video games they were far more simple, and the characters didn’t matter as much, though they eventually did become icons because the games were so fun, but if the game would of sucked those characters would of probably of been forgotten about. Today the movie part has to be good as well as having engaging, fun gameplay. You could have a 1st or 3 person shooter game and it just be you going around playing on line like newer games are trying out, but you really don’t “care” about the characters, just the gameplay unless its a character you already recognize from something else.

Damarion Johnson If Mario games sucked do you think Nintendo would be holding him up as one of the faces of their company, no because it had no great story, or anything to ride off of. A turtle Monster“kidnaps” a helpless Princess and a plumber by going down pipes, and jumping on smaller turtles, and mushrooms that are minding their own business. Seriously if you run past the mushrooms they don’t even try to stop you, in some cases they just fall off the cliff. Its not there fault Mario dies by touching them, and i say kidnap in quotes because at this point I think she is doing on purpose. 😂

@@fsirjyy147 Lmao that's a fair point 😂, but take the resident evil series for instance, seeing our beloved characters like Jill, Chris and Leon make returns and doing badass shit is what also make ppl wanna buy their games and kill whatever kind of B.O.W they're up against, yes at the end of the day gameplay makes the majority of most games but seeing familiar faces can sure help with game sales

It's sad bc I'm 13 and when I played gears of war 3 like 5 years ago and seeing Dom die just made me cry and I get into tear everyone I see it 😭

I love how in gears of war 2. When he knows dom will have to kill Maria he walks away to give them “privacy” and when it is gonna happen again in gears 4 you can see him walking away again.

Benjamin Carmine also affected him, since he was still a boy, he was his recruit, I mean, it was under his responsibility to make him survive his first day, he promised that together they would return to the surface and being the new member of the delta squad, always He had passience and when he needed help, he gave it to him, in Gears of War 3 it is seen that if his death affected him, since in the nightmare he is seen next to Anthony, this is normal in war squads, when they lose to a man, the team leader is sometimes very affected as he feels guilty. Also, I still say that Del will be the death of Canon and not JD since this will encompass a new evolution of positive relationship at the end between the 2 after 2 games, where possibly it causes the death of Marcus in Gears 6 and JD remains as a legacy, at least I hope that they can't imagine a Rise of Skywalker type with all the dead Phoenixes and Kait with that role ...

Gears of war 2 I've screamed when Tia Commits suicide Gears of war 3 Cried because i didn't want Dom to die Gears of war 4 Cried when marcus has almost died Gears 5 Screamed and cried when Del or JD got chocked by the queen Reyna
