Marcin Dylla - M. Ponce: Sonata Romántica
Музыка
If there's any problem with the video just tell me. thanks
In 1929 Manuel Ponce (1882-1948) created one of the greatest works in the classical guitar repertoire: his Sonata Romántica.
The story is that the guitarist Andres Segovia asked him to compose a piece for the guitar which was in the style of the Romantic Period. The piece is dedicated to Andrés Segovia and its subtitle is Hommage a Franz Schubert. Schubert was a leading composer during the Romantic Period.
During editing Segovia communicated to Ponce this problem with the fourth movement:
"... I threw myself into the finale like a hungry dog ... and I am furious with the guitar. What you would least imagine -- for the first time with your music!! -- comes out impossible: the arpeggios .... And you have coincided with the same type of difficulty that makes the prelude in the E major by Bach (violin solo) unbridgeable for guitar. And the difficulty, in both passages, is that it is necessary to have a succession of step wise intervals on the same string, staying, at the same time, in one position, at times senselessly, in order to strike the disjunct note of the arpeggio. Do you understand? On the guitar the technique of the arpeggio is derived almost strictly from the possibilities of the blocked chord. What is not possible in a chord struck together, is not possible in arpeggiation, unless it is played very slowly. How are you going to fix this? I am truly desperate, because I like it as it is. Rescue it however you can, please! Do not modify the rhythm, nor the melodic disposition of the chords: change the form of the arpeggio. You will see how well the three previous movements go. The andante is delightful: among the best that Schubert left without doing. I spend all day playing it. The guitar sounds delightful."
Segovia was enthusiastic about the revised version which Ponce sent soon thereafter.
1.Allegro moderato (0:00)
2.Andante espressivo (7:54)
3.Allegretto vivo: Più lento espressivo (12:25)
4.Allegro non troppo e serioso (15:32)

This is far and away my favorite performance / interpretation of this piece. Thank you!!!
Marcin Dylla deserves the highest praise for his guitar playing. His technique and sensitive interpretation of the music is wonderful. It is a real blessing to have such a superb virtuoso on KZread.
So beautiful! The slow movement is achingly beautiful....
He's great, he's fantastic and he's got that wild man hair, like Beethoven or Paderewski! Love it.
A lovely reading of this hommage to Schubert. capturing many aspects of Schubert's style - not least his melodic flair, and extended treatments of thematic material over inventive modulations. Powerful drama in this interpretation, almost ballad-like in many places
sehr schön gespielt, es macht Freude anzuhören - vielen Dank !!
This is simply beautiful!! Makes me shed tears of joy!!!
0:00 1. Allegro moderato 7:54 2. Andante espressivo 12:25 3. Allegretto vivo 15:32 4. Allegro non troppo e serioso
A polish guitarrist playing music inspired by a austrian , composed by a mexican for a spanish player: music truly is universal. Anyway, loved it, loved it, loved it. Greetings from Mexico City.

Ariel Beliz these videos are part of a DVD which naturally has a professional audio recording and editing. Because of KZread quality it does not sound so good but it’s still great to listen to.

I think you mean the guitar. In the description is all the info. He was playing with a Double top Boguslaw Teryks, Poland when he recorded this video.

I believe it's the Schott version, edited by Segovia. The only other edition I know of is the scholarly edition by Tilman Hoppstock based on the manuscripts (also published by Schott), and which features a number of fragmented/unfinished passages with no fingerings. That being said, it's very possible Dylla changed a number of fingerings from the edition, which is a common practice among professionals.

Brendan Lake I often change fingerings but am not professional, think it just depends on what fits you best individually
tamarrissimo...pure troppo
What a beautiful sound and technique, although the 4th movemente should be more "non troppo e serioso" in my humble belief

Because now he is using force with guitar instead of lightsaber ;) May the force be with You !
For all you haters out there who think this guitarist is the worst they've ever heard, saying he has no talent, making fun of his hair and his big nose, you need to be a little more forgiving and remember that not everybody is perfect. Just enjoy the music for what it is and don't compare him with superior guitarists because it's not a contest.
