These two silly birds are my teachers, they have touched my heart in a way I never knew how. I’ll be looking forward to watching them every day next year. ❤🙏🏽
Asking all the eagle viewers, did you ever think you would have the chance to look at an eagle straight on face to face? Thank you Mods and all those who monitored Jackie and Shadow. You gave us the opportunity to watch these birds day in and day out as they tried to bring new life into the world. Now we grieve with them as they mourn the loss of their eggs that once had the chance to build their family. 🥰😪🦅🦅🐠🌹

No I never had the opportunity till this was available to watch these magnificent bald eagles hoping to become parents, protecting their eggs and being so diligent in focusing on the well being of their babies, each other and the fish deliveries, sticks being brought in. I kinda feel like I may next time walking outdoors….pick a great twig, branch and bring it in to my spouse. I do have to stop short of the dinner of fish being captured and brought to the nest to nourish each other with both food, love, gifts of live. It is sad that the eggs didn’t hatch. Wondering if Jackie and Shadow are monitored in any way that we might continue and broadening a look into their lives, relationship, and the partnership they have?! Will they return to this nesting site for future attempts?

Absolutely amazing to be able to watch these two beautiful eagles enjoying life together. Thank you so much for for sharing 🦅🦅
I became emotional and cried when they did not incubate for 57 minutes and left the nest because at this point it appears to be the end and Jackie has been through so much also Shadow I will miss all these beautiful videos that Big Bear has posted and hope they will be able to have some eaglets in the future 😂😂
Prayers to keep these two beautiful eagles safe this year and may they have a successful season next year. They are loved by so many
I am heartbroken for those poor birds. They both tried so hard to keep those eggs warm and safe.

Don't feel so bad. They don't think like humans. This is instinctual. They sit on the eggs because of hormonal levels and they slowly stop sitting on them as hormonal levels drop. Eagles are pretty ruthless when it comes to their offspring. They will starve an under-sized baby and overfeed a bigger one. They will let one eaglet bonk the other one to death and just sit by, watching it happen. An eagle rescue channel I watch rescues baby eagles sometimes who have been kicked out of their nests. The parents will fly by the baby for days while the baby cries and screams for food. The parents will ignore the eaglet until it dies. The rescue picks those eaglets up and raises them. It's sad that they will starve their babies if they are pushed or they fall out of the nest, but that is also instinctual for eagles. They don't have serious thoughts like we do. So you shouldn't feel too bad. The eagles don't, I can guarantee you that. They are just living their lives day by day and doing what is natural for them.
😢I am sad for them, but seeing how dedicated they are to each other gives me hope for next year. We humans could learn a lot from this beautiful pair❤
This is so beautiful, thankful for the lessons these two gifts of nature are teaching us. All is well in their world 🦅❤️😌
Watching these beautiful eagles everyday has been a blessing and educational. I have learned so much, the anticipation of waiting for the eggs to hatch and the heartfelt sorrow of Jackie and Shadow losing their family. We all knew at some point this was going to happen and it has started. May these two beautiful eagles continue to strive and fly high ❤️🦅🦅. Thank you FOBBV for letting us into their lives and the mods for being understanding and so helpful ❤.
We all watched for the amazing new arrivals. What we saw was true love of the two beautiful eagles. Their commitment to each other. Hope for next year but we learned a lot from them.
Exquisite pictures. Thank you for these and so many others. So many emotions while watching these beautiful birds these last weeks😢
This is sad to see, but nature has it's ways of moving past disappointments to the future of what can be once again! Thank you for these videos & chats FOBBVCAM (Baiba). May we all continue to look forward to & pray for the next mating season for Jackie & Shadow! Two Loving & Dedicated Eagles! ❤❤🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏
I'll be here next year. These 2 eagles have. Been so faithful to these eggs. So sorry. For the two of them. Their dedication showed that they would have been wonderful parents.
I have completely loved watching these two beautiful and devoted eagles. They have endured so much throughout the incubation with the inclement weather. From being buried in snow to nights of 80 mph winds and sleet, they were 100% devoted. I had tears when they left the non viable eggs. 😢 Will continue to watch these 2 beauties. ❤❤️

They are amazing, aren't they!❤❤❤
What strikes me the most is their faithfulness , how many of us would’ve given up long ago, but they remain faithful to a cause, and even though they eventually may leave those eggs they have a lesson for us all about never giving up too quickly but persevering even when all seems lost . that’s what these beautiful birds have taught us .. true perseverance in the midst of things not going as planned faithfulness, and devotion to one another no matter what the outcome .
This is my first time watching these two beautiful birds. I am sad for them. But am hoping next year will bring them and all of us joy for birth.
May God bless Jackie and Shadow.. thank you big valley for the love you have for Gods creatures!!!

It has been an honor to watch these magnificent birds. This is my first year doing so and I have learned so much. Thank you to all involved in making this possible. Its so sad that they didn't have babies, it sure isn't because they didn't try! I'll continue to watch as long as the camera is on. Again, thank you.
What a pleasure it is to watch these two, they were the beginning of my journey into this world last February. Our human emotions can’t process the loss but they will move on . Lord will, He will give us another season of watching Jackie and Shadow. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
So sad for Jackie and Shadow 😢😢. ❤❤.prayers for them both 🙏.
Yet another snowstorm today (March 30); and Jackie(?) virtually invisible in the nest. What these two faithful eagles have endured in the past three months is a testament to this species and to the wonder of the drive to reproduce. Yeah, they're just birds. I get it. But I hold them in great respect. I do hope that they will find a more temperate locale outside of Big Bear Valley to live and have their broods. Their current location is just so prone to bad weather. I have to believe it's been a major contributer to the eggs not incubating again.
I'm so disappointed. Watching over the past few weeks has been a privilege.
I,m so sorry for you Jackie and Shadow. But we all by back next time❤❤❤
Beautiful day in the Big Bear valley and lake. Love the close-ups of Jackie & Shadow. 😊❤🦅🦅🥚🥚🥚
Poor couple. I am sad. Thanks for your video!❤
They did a great job. Sometimes things don't work out though. Hope they have a beautiful Summer and are able to find lots of food and stay safe.
Thank you to all the mods! This is my second year watching these 2 angels, just hoping 3rd time is a charm!!! I love them like everyone else love ❤
I can’t stop crying my heart is broken 😢😢
The process of nature letting go. This hurts. Love Jackie and Shadow ❤️
So sorry for these 2 magnificent eagles who teach us what loyalty and love is! But hopefully they move on and we will see them start over for another chance next season. They still provide us with so much information on how wildlife cope together year after year. And these 2 are amazing and entertaining.
Beautiful compilation of all the various scenes and stills of these 2 wonderful and majestic birds. Thank you for taking the time to put this together... So sad for them that they won't have any eaglets to take care, plus the horrible weather today... The view is beautiful to especially as the sun comes up on them...
Glad to still see Jackie and Shadow soon they will leave the nest 😢
Sigh……last year was tough…this year, I’m just in tears for these 2 wonderful eagles. They deserve chicks.

yes they do. I pray Mother Nature that you will bless them next year with 3 beautiful Eaglets,
I guess they both have come to a realization that the eggs have not hatched. Gone for 57 minutes is the longest either one of them have been away. I doubt if they will move those eggs out. The crows know they are not good and once Shadow and Jackie move on, they will come in to eat. It was a great attempt on the part of these magnificent birds, but they are wild and go by their inbred instinct. They do not think or do things human. At least they have shown us to be loyal if you have a mate, and give them beaky kisses their own way of showing affection or just getting one off the nest!
So sad. Prayers for Jackie and Shadow.
My heart is broken for them ❤

Eagles don't "know" things like we do. Their behavior is instinctual. They are slowly losing interest in incubating because their hormone levels are dropping off. Nature made them that way, otherwise they would sit on unviable eggs forever and never have new eggs. So when the hormone levels related to nesting drop, they start losing interest naturally. It isn't a knowing and they aren't sad.
Just watching them together struggling with the decision to leave is just heart wrenching. 😔💔
Poor Jackie...2 years in a row. 😞

Thanks Baiba for this beautiful montage and tribute honoring wonderful and dedicated Jackie and Shadow. So brokenhearted 💔😥 about this as we all grieve for the loss of their potential triplet eaglets🦅🦅🥚🥚🥚😢. I know we can't put human emotions on them since they're always in the moment, but since I do know elephants have emotions and grieve for their babies, why would it be too much of a stretch to imagine the birds of the air would as well, since God created all his creation for His pleasure....take care and God bless.

I think the weather events this year were just too much for the eggs...
The only thing in control here is the weather. 7 thousand feathers not withstanding, having and trying to incubate eggs in the dead of winter and reduced 02 levels is risky. Move to Florida J&S lol
@marthaheck1831

The weather isn't the issue, they thrieve in this kind of weather. They know their stuff. It just lots of things that one has no control over and NATURE is one of them. @@marthaheck1831 Of course they'll never give up, like you said nature is in control. But there are 1500 nesting eagle pairs in Florida, 1 in big bear? Just saying. Weather and seasons are like the biggest part of nature. Now, Alaska does have the largest population of eagles anywhere in the U.S. and we know it's a bit cold up there. So the eagles must be getting busy year-round in AK 🦅🦅 lol
So sad .

@@Dan-oi4kt This is about the Eagles or were you watching something else.
I do not grieve for those 3 dead eggs and 2 stoic birds because “good” or “bad”, it is the glorious natural world at work, right in front of us with stories we may not want to hear and certainly can’t understand. I wish they were a little more predictable like chickens are. Will the eggs be taken to be candled to see if they were developing? I think it was said there is no data on how often eagle eggs hatch so we don’t know how normal it is to not hatch. Is observation and stuck chick rescues as far as it goes for now? I am so grateful that this is being observed! Thank you for your hard work!

Jackie and Shadow have had a real hard time having viable eggs. When Jackie lays her eggs, all we can do is wait and pray that nature will make her eggs viable and successfully hatch. Typically there is a 50% chance of successful hatching/survival among the eagle population.
Two years in a row. Heartbreaking! I am wondering if one of them has been adversely impacted by excessive lead. I hear this is, sadly, common with eagles due to all of the lead in bullets and fishing rod weights.
😢
As always, these wonderful alpha predators move on and maybe try again next year. No harm, no foul.
Have they realized? So sad and heartbreaking. Mother nature moves on😢.

If eggs not hatched until after two weeks they can hear inside the eggs heart beating if not they will leave unprotected until black bird will come eat their eggs , sad!
@mygirldarby
Ай бұрын
@sve4635 no, the eggs haven't been viable for a while now. Two weeks? The birds clearly aren't listening for sounds because they would know the eggs are unviable. Their instinct to incubate the eggs slowly fades away (it's hormonal most likely), and they slowly incubate less and less. It has nothing to do with hearing anything in the eggs. And yes, when they leave the eggs unattended, ravens will eat them most likely.
Better luck next time.
Too bad the eggs cannot be removed from the nest. Then Mom and Dad could move on quickly.

It looked as if they were trying again last year, but there were thoughts that it was too late. There is a fertility window. There have been two successful second clutches this year: Pepe and Muhlady and Berry College (there might be a third but I can't remember who). I hope they do. No one will know if they will be successful if they don't try.

Shadow and Jackie are aware of the lack of viability for their eggs, on some level, I think. We may never know with 100% certainty why the eggs didn’t make it. Probably a combination of things. I think they’ll try again. I don’t know that much about eagles, but I think I’m getting a crash course with these two. What’s the most likely scenario once the Ravens have played their role in this. Will they abandon the nest for a new home? Does their age play a part in whether they attempt parenthood again? Anyone know their age? So many questions….
About time. They have gone a month over when they should have hatched. Maybe they will kick the eggs to the ground. That would be better than letting the crows eat them.
