March 14, 2024 Israel Crisis Update with Rabbi Ezra Benjamin

Here's another update from Rabbi Ezra Benjamin on the current events in Israel & how you can continue to support your brothers & sisters among God's people. Ezra dives into this month's celebrations: the Jewish holiday of Purim & the Arab holiday known as Ramadan. He'll explain how this is not simply a time for celebrations, but also a delicate & extremely volatile period amid the current war between Israel & the Hamas terror regime. He'll then share some encouraging ways for you as Believers to get involved.

Thank you, Ezra, and JVMI for updates that are so important and hard to find on secular platforms. The God of Abraham is in charge, and while the world doesn't believe that nor do they understand, His people will be victorious and the Gospel will move forward. Satan will never prevail over the God of Israel!

QUESTION... IF anyone is able or willing to answer.. I seem to remember, in recent past years, Ramadan being in the late summer, early fall.. Can someone explain how it is now in the spring? As a Christian, i dont know how the muslim holidays get "planned out" or determined for when in the year they happen. . I just find it strange that there can be such a difference of dates/seasons for religious celebrations. Im justcurious as to what determines that for them. And, i find it interesting that, particularly for this year, it is happening in conjunction with multiple unusual "lineups" already in the making. Thats just me🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Shalom! Thank you for your question. The reason that Ramadan is at different times of the year, is that the Muslim Calendar is a lunar calendar and the Gregorian Calendar is a solar one. The time reckonings are different: While Ramadan always falls on the 9th month of the Muslim calendar, the Muslim calendar is 11 days shorter each year than ours, and that throws the timing off on ours. Just so you know, the Hebrew Calendar works the same way-it's a lunar reckoning, and ours is a solar reckoning, so that times don't always line up. Thanks again for reaching out! We hope you found this helpful.

Shalom! Passover begins at sunset on April 22, 2024 and ends at sunset on April 30, 2024. In addition, the Counting of the Omer begins the Shabbat after Passover, leading up to Shavuot (the Barley Harvest). Shavuot begins at sunset on June 11, 2024 and ends at sunset on June 13, 2024. Here's some more info about it: www.jewishvoice.org/shavuot
