In the movie the singing voice is mostly Freddie's, but there were parts where they couldn't properly filter his voice (like the a cappella Smile song he sings to Roger and Brian when they first meet, or the scene where he's composing "Love of my life"). They used a mix of Rami Malek and Marc Martel's voice in those parts.

You questioned why so many dislikes on his video, man, and I think one possible explanation is because some people hate on Marc and call him a copycat singer. I don't know why they need to hate on him though, even if they think that, because it's not like imitators aren't big business and if they're really good, are a way for people who didn't get to experience the original band or artist to hear that famous music in person again. It's done to promote and honor celebs who are no longer with us. Tributes. Also I see a lot of people who hate on Marc because they think people liking his voice is a dis to Adam Lambert who's been singing with Queen on tour for the past few years, which is just stupid to believe that everyone who likes Marc hates Adam. Some of them also believe that Marc is not being genuine when he says that people have always told him how much he sounds like Freddie even before he knew who Freddie and Queen were, or listened to their music. But in his older vids that he made singing with his Christian rock band, you can clearly hear that it's the same voice....he's just singing songs other than Queen's. I don't know, man. Some people just have to find something to hate on. But personally, I think Marc is fantastic and should get big props for helping to keep the music of Queen and Freddie alive by reminding us all how great it was live, as well as introducing it to younger generations.

It's so lovely watching your reaction and appreciating another artist who has an amazing voice like Freddie's. People can get very protective over their 'Idols' and when they hear someone who can sing just like him, it somehow shatters their picture of him. Queen was around when all we had were LP's on a record player or a tape that used to unravel for the car. Music was a very personal thing and music your parents wouldn't listen to or approve of was played in the privacy of your bedroom. So in a way Freddie was singing just for you. I think this is one of the reasons why Marc has had so many dislikes, in a way for the hardened Queen fans he's destroying something precious for them. They're not listening to Marc's talent and they never will.

This Man is Great! I love Marc M. He should be singing with Queen! Let the people decide who goes to their concerts now. Have some with Adam and some with Marc! See who the fans react to more. He shouldn't be singing in the Queen Extravaganza only... Yes, Roger Taylor hand picked him for that particular venue. But use him with the band also. That's just my honest opinion. To me Adam screams way way to much. Freddie was and is a Legend. He Always Enunciated his words when he sang. Marc sings the Operatic of the famous Man. I'm sorry I can't think of his name but Celine Dion sang with him I think. Also look up Marc M singing to her 'SOMEBODY TO LOVE ' HE is amazing on that performance. He's had no formal training just sang in Church but has never taken voice lessons as of this performance. He did have his own Christian Band. Now he does the Queen Extravaganza concerts.... Freddie was an Amazing, Amazing Singer. The best. This guy is the closest I have heard that could ever come close to him. Even the 1992 tribute they did for Freddie Queen had to have back up singers to sing with the Artists that performed his songs. Even they couldn't get the range. George Michael was the only to come close on 'Somebody to love ' and even he couldn't hit some of the high notes. He didn't try. He sang it in a lower key also he said in an interview. Idk.... He really could give this generation a Version of Freddie that I missed and my Daughter could go watch. I wish they would use him on tour with them. I would pay for a concert with him and the band to see them live. Adam L, He's great. I just never like screaming. Queen was never heavy metal. That's just my humble and honest opinion. I love Adam. I just love Marc more as far as Freddie goes. Grant it you can never replace Freddie Mercury. But you can honor him in doing it correctly. I love both Artists. I just prefer Marc's style and Vocal Quality ! Tyfs....

@@gcarap I know all of that. People who watched the movie with me, who didn't know, we're asking why does Freddies voice sound so different in some of the songs, I told them because it's not him. I've been listening to Queen for forty years, and I've heard plenty of Marc Martel, and seen him live. I've seen Freddie live. To me he sounds nothing like him. Have you seen them both live Guido? He obviously sounds a little bit like him in some songs, because he's an imitator. But there voices are totally different.

Actually, he did vocals in all the parts where there were no recordings of Freddie, singing Happy Birthday, auditioning for Smile/Queen. etc. He actually recorded the DAY o's used in the trailer, but not the movie. He was in Abbey Road studio for 5 weeks, and producer Graham King said they couldn't have made the movie without him. I think there are some places no one can tell the difference between him and Freddie.

Beautiful reaction as always. Takes a musician to truly appreciate what he does here. And yes, this guy's reputation is first and foremost about being similar vocally to Freddie. I think it's basically his career now - although he's obviously extremely talented regardless. Check out the clip where he sings "somebody to love" for Celine Dione - you wouldn't believe it's not Freddie :) And assuming you've seen the film - if I'm not mistaken - whenever you "think" you're hearing Queen in the flim - it's actually re-recordings with this guy signing the Freddie parts. Also, I have to try and put in another Queen request/recomendation - "Love of My Life" LIVE - in Rio is a great version, but regardless of what you go for - it has to be one of the live versions. Bohemian Rhapsody is Queen's "best" song (probably anybody's best song if I think about it...), but "Love of My Life" is my favourite !

dedi wrong, they have only use 5% of malek and Martel combined and 95% by Freddie Mercury their voices are not the same you have to be deaf to think that, I have listened Queen for 30 years I’m sure i know if the voice was the same but lacks the vibrato and raw power. Confirmed by Brian May and an interview made by malek.

@@Henso618 This is the quote from film journal that Mr Kanon dismissed because it doesn't fit his argument QUOTE: The songs in the movie are performed by Freddie, Rami and a Freddie sound-alike named Marc Martel. "Rami sings a little bit in the film, there's a lot of Freddie Mercury obviously, and a lot of Marc Martel. He sent a video to Brian May and Roger Taylor and he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury. We knew that we had someone we could use for parts that maybe Rami couldn't do and obviously Freddie didn't do. So we were in Abbey Road recording studio for maybe two and a half months with Marc and with Rami, recording bits and pieces that we knew we needed. It's hard to find someone who can sing like Freddie Mercury and I'm not sure the movie would have happened if we didn't have Marc." - Producer, Graham King of G.K. Films I trust the producer and the fact that Marc had to sign a non-disclosure agreement about what exactly he did do, and didn't say anything about what he did until after Rolling Stone did an article mentioning him, and even after that he said nothing more than what RS said. You don't sign non-disclosure agreements nor spend 2 and half months in a recording studio for doing next to nothing.

Marc does a fabulous job of singing this. He sounds part Freddie and part himself. I like his arrangement on the piano. Marc's style is a bit more Michael Buble than Freddie though, whereas Adam Lambert, who sounds like Adam Lambert, performs in a flamboyant style closer to Freddie's and fits in well with Brian and Roger. Both Adam and Marc are gifted musicians. Marc has some cool videos on his website marcmartelmusic.com and two that are notable are "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" and his jazzed up version of "Don't Stop Me Now." He also sang with Symphonic Queen in Mexico, which had a large concert sound with horns and choir and is worth checking out.
