Your detailed enthusiastic review of Marc’s singing is enjoyable! Yes, impersonating is not what Marc does, as he was told he sounded like Freddie before he knew who he was. His diction is impeccable!

6:02 - If you listen to some of Marc's OLD songs with his Christian rock band (called "downhere"), you'll notice Marc isn't doing anything with his voice to sound like Freddie. Even in this video, he's not trying to sing "in the style of" Freddie, but is doing his own version. As he's mentioned in interviews, all he does is add "a bit" of a British accent, when singing Queen songs, to sound more like Freddie's accent. Roger Taylor called Marc's voice "spine-chillingly identical" to Freddie's, and I'm certainly not going to be the one to argue with him. 😄

Marc sounds more like Freddy than anyone else on the planet. He is stunningly good at doing so. I think that Marc's non Queen performances are unfortunately overlooked. I would recommend ~ Marc Martel - Unchained Melody (Official Music Video) ~ kzread.info/dash/bejne/Ypt5z85pZ82fkqQ.html One of the best versions I have ever heard.!

There is a video compilation of Marc sounding like other singers. Also, some of his non Queen, 90 music covers really show off his talent for voice impressionism. Then he has his own music that is absolutely amazing. I love his Impersonator album, more specifically, the song The Remake. There is one note that he holds for an incredibly long time.

IMO on that particular video, it demonstrates how Marc's voice sounds the same in every cover - jokingly "it's Freddie singing Seal!" - rather than how much his voice "changes". I think Marc has a great ear for matching "style" and enunciation, but his tone stays the same.

Freddie Mercury was an extraordinary musician and showman. Marc is right up there with him regarding musicianship. Both had/have a level of versatility that make for a truly great listening experience. I love the way that both singers would bend notes at the rght time and use the right amount of vibrato. While my singing is comparable to a cow lowing in a field, I do have a good ear for music. I exclusively play the soprano saxophone. I was thinking that much of what you were talking about in this video also pertains to the type of sound I get when practicing my soprano sax. I spoke of vibrato above. It took me a long time to perfect my vibrato on the sax. It also took a long time to get my growling to sound half-way decent.

Marc, along with Tommy Johansson (also worth checking out) are my two favourite singers, for reasons you mention - nice clear voices. For the women, it's Lara Fabian and Faouzia. Faouzia is up and coming and should be a lot more known than she is. She recently released a live performance of her Fur Elise, which is amazing. She's unique in many ways. At just 23, she writes most of her own songs, but does some great covers as well.

He makes it his own, definitely, but it is a great example of what I think you were saying. The Marc Martel rabbit hole is a very fun ride indeed! kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4ytzpule7y-ebQ.html

Only according to haters. His peers, industry musicians, vocal coaches, and most of the people who listen to him know and have stated repeatedly what a gifted and skilled vocalist he is. However for those who prefer another cover artist to the point where they actually hate Marc or those who feel violently that no one should sing Freddie's music, the denial persists. Interesting but sad.
