A device should NEVER be designed like THIS. They should install propper protection functions instead of fucking the customer sideways.

WOW! I’ve seen numerous owner’s manuals mention not hot-plugging HDMI cables whilst a device is switched on but never thought it would cause any major damage. Won’t risk trying it now, though! Thanks for the heads up. 🙏🏻

Yes, in lab conditions. In the real life when you have so many devices linked together there is very high risk of damaging the electronics.

@@boredtech only if they were designed by incompetent. And let's face it, if you're a competent electrical engineer then you're not working in consumer electronics.

But why can the hdmi board get damaged when you're hot swapping hdmi whilst the pcb is powered on? Is it accidental shorting in the process of removing/connecting the hdmi?

So if it’s that important, there should be a fucking stocker on the front and back with a warning. That piece of gear is trash…

So. Yet again, crappy engineers who shouldn't be anywhere near an Altium license designed self-destructing electronics and place the onus on the user to work around their crap stains... this century more than ever, if you want anything done well you better do it yourself.
