Maqam hijaz 3 ways - can you tell the difference?

So with the maqamat, there's a lot of room for creativity, different variations, bringing in the flavour of other maqmat and so on. Here I'm reciting in maqam hijaz in 3 different ways. I want you to listen and try a few things with me - you can post your answers in the comments. No problem if you don't get it "right" - the idea is to use your ears and actively listen and just pay attention to what you're hearing.
Timestamps:
00:00 Intro & guidelines for this exercise
01:30 Hijaz reading the first way
02:30 hijaz the 2nd way
03:20 the third and final way
03:57 summary and some questions for you
Here are the questions to help guide your listening:
1) can you hear that all three examples overall are maqam hijaz?
2) can you tell that they're a bit different
3) how are they different? what am I doing differently especially at the beginning of the 2nd ayah?
looking forward to your comments below ⤵️ and if you like this sort of video, pls give it a thumbs up and/or subscribe and let me know so I can do more of this. Thanks for your support!

The first sounds like Hijaz with rast The second is Hijaz and nahawand And the third I could figure it out but if I had to guess I'd say bayati.

wa alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa baraktuh, I would recommend memorize a few juz first before starting to enter into maqams that way you can develop your natural sound a little bit and have some quran already memorized when you do go into maqamats. just my opinion and free to do what you want. barakallah feek, wa jazakallah khair

wa alaikum assalam you can do both simultaneously. Start memorizing and explore and improve your tune at the same time

salaam, recently discovered your channel and really like your videos masha'Allah muhammad ayyub rahimahullah recited in maqam hijaz but many of the recordings specify maqam hijaz rakbi/hirab/dukah. what are these? are these sub-maqams within maqam hijaz? because i really like how they sound, but not maqam hijaz on its own. hope that makes sense e.g. kzread.info/dash/bejne/onZ6j8aRlqWxe7w.html

I'll do a video on this inshaAllah. What's happening is that two similar terms are being confused. One is maqam hijaz which is a particular maqam - in this case it's the one you're saying you don't like. Then there is the hijaziyyah style, or you might hear al-maqamat al-hijaziyyah. This is something different altogether - this is referring to the specific tunes of the hijaz region (aka modern day Saudi) or even just that regional style of doing particular maqams. So we're talking banjakah, rakbi, dukah etc. I'll try to do a video on this with some demos ... time's a bit tight in ramadan. Pls keep me in your duas
