MAPPING THE FACE FOR ANIME & MANGA
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How to draw Anime & How to draw manga faces requires knowing where to place the features and how to map them to the face at different angles using basic shapes. This tutorial will also cover how to draw Noses, as knowing how to draw the nose for anime and manga characters when drawing the face can be tricky! Also I love me a bit of Ilya Kuvshinov!

A good few tips for anyone coming to this video now: 1. Draw with your *entire* arm, not your wrist(as you have much more control of your muscle movement). Use your wrist for very small details, but as little as possible. 2. Picture things in a 3D space. Your watching this not to learn how to just draw an anime face, but how to understand how the face is built to work in a 3D environment so it feels natural and full. Drawing is about building a custom “How-To” guide in your head, and learning how to use the tools properly to actually follow that library you are mentally creating. 3. Your not here to make a pretty picture, your here to learn to draw. Perfection and making sure your lines are correct, prim, and proper, is probably the singularly worst thing you can do when your learning art. If you focus too hard on the detail and don’t focus on the construction and foundations of the piece, your going to learn a lot slower. 4. After your done with this guide, practice. Don’t just copy what he did, experiment with the steps and create something of your own so you can truly say with confidence that you know how to do it off the top of your head, and you understand how it works! Then, after a day or two, try to replicate it again and see if you can remember how. If not, try watching the video as a refresher course. Congrats! You’ve just learned how to teach yourself how to draw just by reading a KZread comment. Correct me with your replies if I’m wrong, as I appreciate criticism.

The arm advice is a great tip if you suffer from cubital/carpal tunnel syndrome. I find my wrists start to ache and fatigue too quick if I use my wrist only with micro movements. Over the years small movements of my wrists when writing have caused this issue of repetitive strain injury (RSI). I wish I knew this when I was first taught how to write now my writing is atrocious due to learning how to write using my whole arm instead my wrist only.

@@koysiimiah3320 Been programming over 3 years now and never had a problem with carpal tunnel... I just recently got into drawing and it honestly feels way better to use my arm for bigger movements(like drawing hair) and my wrist for smaller ones. IG it depends on the person.

@@danibaba7058 that's great pray that you never suffer from this issue. If allowed to get worse without rest and stretches, you can lose the ability to grip and the pain is unbearable sometimes. I've been practicing circles for months and I still only get like 2 good ones out of 100. My friend dogs on me for using tools im just trying not to waste my time at this point. I feel like it's the bulletin argument teachers made that we won't be carrying calculators in our pockets every day back when I was in grade school lol
I've been drawing my entire life (not professionally), though, always kind of "refused" using techniques and avoided different method. Lately I've decided it's time to try and learn how professionals do it and try it myself, I'm glad I did because this makes a lot of sense and makes drawing easier :) thank you

For those struggling with the eyes, a thing that really helped me is realizing that the points on the almond shape flow with the direction/perspective of the face. so, for the bottom left drawing, the left part of that almond shape would be aiming at the concave of the cheek, right next to the left eye.

I've been drawing for years and have been using division methods to map out anatomy but I've recently started studying Manga, American style comic art and Anime just to shake it up and I have been learning some really useful techniques from badass artists like you! Thanks for being so generous with your skills!
Thank you so so much for this tutorial, I have indeed learnt a lot with these mapping methods, especially ebcause I've gotten so used to drawing heads in only side profiles and frontal view, so this is definitely something I will start using for my drawings. Again, this was extremely useful, so thank you!

The "most hardest" part is to correct your grammar.
How to comment on an art video: 1. type some shit about how you can't do anything artistically simple (example: drawing a circle)
I truly recommend this video as previously i was drawing without any structure. The second i applied structure to my characters i immediately got my desired result. 10/10 tutorial
TYSM!!! Your method has helped me the most, when I first started I used your tutorial and now that I’m kinda intermediate I’m watching it again with my understanding

Honestly I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve been drawing for... well my entire life. I say that but I’m only 18. I’ve only drawn anime male and within those year I’ve gotten better with that, but I’ve never drawn anime female characters. So it’s been a struggle for quite some time to get to draw them. Finding this channel as of recently has been helping me for a few days. Thank you so much for putting these tutorials out

Congrats to the person who started the circle joke may his circle be perfect
Felt the need to say this. Really appreciate that the way he teaches, he gives the extra guidlines and follows the shapes around them. I'm talking about the ones within the shapes that are drawn along the form, eg the series of curves around leg as it changes position. Explaining the best I can. It's early, lol. Pay attention to those lines if you really want to learn! It's invaluable information! You end up drawing your own poses that way and because you do, you get them right more of the time. You can easily draw from reference this way too and it helps you understand the form of what you're looking at. I used to think 3d wasn't necessary because we're working 2d but that's wrong. We are working IN 2d but our drawings give the ILLUSION of 3d by using these forms. That's why artists go on about learning to draw cylinders and spheres properly. It's not just homework to keep you busy, lol. Just dropping this here for anyone interested 💕
First time watching. Such positive energy! I love it! 😝😉🤩
