Started a new job with paper based systems in a mess. Been a while since I studied this at Uni and I needed a refresher on workflows and found this video an exceptionally well presented resource.

Kevin , the session awfully equipped me with fair idea on the basic workflow management and it sure props up one who is completely afresh to the niche. Justifiable exercise. Be good ,:)

How do you deal with communicating this kind of process to employees who don't know what flowchart symbols are supposed to mean? I'm dealing with warehouse employees and even higher level managers who do not have business degrees. My inclination is to you icons rather than abstract symbols. Should I use both? Or educate the employees?

civickarma write them out in list form. You can also train them to identify the process.

Civickarma, I’m interested to find out how you resolved this? Did these employees need to know or learn the entire process? Did they have to remember them by committing them to memory because they were on the workflow?

I prefer that we change the second process to a decision box called "Line Manager Availability" if No it will move to the process "Delegation" then the process "Manager Reviewing" if Yes it will move directly to the process "Manager Reviewing"
