Maple Syrup Tools - Repair 3/16 Inch lines with the right tools!

Today we show you how we repair our maple syrup lines. We spend a good amount of time in the woods right before the season getting the lines ready because of fallen trees, squirrel and bear bites. Today we are showing you the tools we use for our 3/16 inch maple lines. We are using a 3/16" double handed line tool and a single handed line tool too. Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell so you can watch our next videos! Thanks for watching!

Do you still like the 3/16" lines? I heard they can build up issues over the years. Are yours still working ok?

Mr. Kelly, I still use the 3/16" mainly because they are still good. When it's time to replace laterals, I will most likely be moving to 5/16". my biggest challeng isn't built up over time rather, shards of wood after tapping. Walking the main lines will find most of the problems but oddly some can't be found without walking in the middle or each lateral. Because they will stop up at a seat. The line looks like it is running but it isn't. I don't hear of the same issues on 5/16". What's your experience been? One last thing I'll say is that give our elevation 3/16" works. If I were setting up a bush without electricity. I would definitely use 3/16". And while I might have a lateral or two stop up, I will gain more in sap from all the others that might be lost. Thanks for watching and posting your question. Kevin
