LYRICS
There are no words I have to say
In this moment
You're asking me if I'm okay
But I need time to process
All these things that make me lose my focus
And all these parts of me I had not noticed
Before you came
Before you came
I know you think I'm being cold
But I can't bear to look at you today
‘Cause every single time I do I fear
It might be the last time that you'll see me this way
Way
Way
But I guess that's how we learn
By setting fire to things that bring us life
Before we've got to watch them burn
And so I'll say goodbye
Because I'd rather kill a good thing
Than wait for it to die
Die
Die
So draw your lines upon my skin
For the very final time
And I will colour all them in
And retrace them until I
Can't remember what it feels like Like

The progression of the idea through the verses, nesting into the simple choruses... I don't think I've heard a better summation of the pain of ending a not quite right fit when you grew up both aching for love, but never quite getting it either, from parents, or friends, or whomever ought to have done so. You feel so beholden to keeping it alive, tending that little flame and singeing your fingers, getting jostled and splashed with careless sparks. So you let it burn out, dump all the fuel that's left into the pile. You can even picture the colouring in the last stanza being done with ash: So draw your lines upon my skin For the very final time And i will colour them all in And then retrace them until I Can't remember what it feels like (Like). Poetry in lyrics and delivery, everything fits perfectly together. Thank you for this.

absolutely in love with this song honestly. to me it represents a person who’s been hurt so many times in their life. they reach a point where whenever they’re in a good thing, they expect it to all crumble down. they’ve been conditioned to believe that nothing good will last forever. instead of waiting for the bad to come, they orchestrate the bad themselves. instead of sitting back and letting the good thing disintegrate on its own, they destroy it themselves as a way to have control over their life and situation. that bad thing is something they give to themselves and not something that happens to them ; by doing this they’re not a victim to the situation. they set fire to the good before it burns down before them on its own. much easier to deal with the hurt when you’re the one causing it. absolutely love this song.

This has to be one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in so long. It’s sounds original and nostalgic. When I close my eyes to this song, I can see the summer nights of 2019, when I just turned 18 and just graduated. The pink sunsets, long summer walks, club strode lights, drinking and smoking joints with my friends. We were so unaware of life because we got lost in the moment together. Sometimes, we would walk around and talk about the future and what is coming for us. Fantasying the way how everything was going to be fine. All the thoughts of moving on with our lives together. Oh, do I wish I could go back in time to those moments when I was still friends with them.... but everything has a purpose in life and moving on is essential to unlocking true worth. But thank you for making this beautiful song. It’s helping me feel like I am moving on and getting that nostalgia that life is changing and it’s fantastic but scary... thank you.

This song reminds me of all the friends who have moved on from me, or that I have moved on from. It reminds me of all those laughs, talks, ups, and downs that we had together. Today I only have one friend, but I'm more than okay with that. I have a best friend who understands me and goes beyond, so I am satisfied and truly glad to have her. So in a respect, I can relate to how you feel listening to this song.

@@adrianasolari492 same here. Only one best friend now. But that’s fine. Everything has a purpose in the great scheme of things. It’s weird how life works in mysterious circumstances. But all we can do is enjoy the ride and see what’s in store for us next. It’s going to be okay.

@@edwardmartin2262 Yup, you are sure right. Life can be strange, life can be confusing, and life can definitely get us feeling overwhelmed. But, somehow, someway, life manages to bring out a great purpose, leading us to understand why certain circumstances end up the way they do. Friends don't last forever, but really nothing does last forever. It's important to just make the most out of it. Keep going, and don't stop, as life has a lot ahead for everybody .

A l'indicible regard estampé, d'indices enracinés.

Her voice is spectral, comforting and nostalgic, the guitar plays delicately, closely and intimately, and there is both melody and dynamics to be found in her music, so it never turns into flat listening. Love her, for she paints a calm, timeless scenery and makes time slow to a halt with her music; her music brings to my mind many elements of several artistes' music, all of which I am fond of - Julie Byrne, Bedouine, Lana Del Rey, Jessica Pratt and Feist.

I was in a long distance relationship where we were communicating regularly. During my last visit I saw her start to pull away. Like the season change, I saw the first leaf fall from Gaze. Now in our winter, im lucky enough to hear from her once in a day. I learned that we were in a anxious/avoidant bond. Non of it made sense until I heard this song. The lyrics hit home as they were things she had told me. Nevertheless, we travelers who rest our head not where we laid it, must continue. With the sun that has set and I the captain who waits no longer. I look back in fondness and do so to this song, for the very final time.. until I can’t remember what it feels like
