The Shetland islands are part of Scotland. They are further north than the Orkney islands. Both sets of islands used to belong to Norway so have an interesting cultural mix. The Shetlands are home to the largest fire festival in Europe called Up Helly Aa. It celebrates their Viking history. Stunning scenery! Much love x

On the first map the green colour is all the Republic of Ireland. The other countries are part of the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland/ North of Ireland (again depending on religious and political beliefs will depend on which term uou use similar to Londonderry/ Derry).

@@davina2078 No, your religious or national alignment do not change the name of Northern Ireland. Nor Londonderry! It's Northern Ireland and Londonderry, officially. Derry is a synonym for Londonderry, and is legally the same place. North of Ireland refers to the north of Ireland, which is a geographical region which includes Donegal, which isn't Northern Ireland.

Actually @timothea the Good Friday Agreement declares that people living in the north of Ireland can identify as both or either Irish or British and can refer to it as it Northern Ireland or the North of Ireland depending on personal political beliefs. If you live in that area and consider yourself Irish, often the term Northern Ireland is not used. As they call themselves Irish living in Ireland.
