Map of the Problematique effect - Molten Midi 2 (programming instructions)

Музыка

-- DON'T SWITCH OFF ANNOTATIONS! -- READ DESCRIPTION! ---
A lot of people have asked me to put up a video showing how to program the Map of the Problematique effect into the Molten Midi 2, so here it finally is. I have included thorough step-by-step instructions in the annotations, just because it would've been too messy putting them in during video editing.
For the record, the Whammy is set to Octave Up/Down harmony, and the steps that I programmed into the Molten Midi are as follows (where -8 is octave down, 0 is unity, and +8 is octave up): -8, 0, +8, 0, +8, 0, -8, 0, +8, 0, +8, 0, -8, 0, +8, 0.
The Molten Midi needs to have a positive-tip plug powering it. Your standard Boss adapter will not do - it needs to have a polarity reversing jumper like the Godlyke Power-All reverse polarity jumper cable (the red cable you see in my other Molten Midi 2 video). The red cable powering the Molten Midi in this video is the positive-tip cable that came with my Cioks AC-10 power supply.
If you want any pedals custom-built or modded, hit Tim up at www.toyroomguitareffects.com/. He does good quality work.

Here's a friendly advice: DO NOT BUY a molten midi just to get the MotP effect. The sequence changes frequently throughout the song, so you'd need to program it on a computer anyway to get it accurate.

@greendaycovers1000 the whammy isn't a part of matt bellamy's tone, it's just a pitchshifter. if you want bellamy's distorted tone, you can either use a high-gain fuzz or distortion - i used my amp distortion for this demo (kustom 72 coupe combo).

Awesome stuff. I was browsing these Midi controllers and thought, "Hey... that's probably what Matt Bellamy uses there..." and what do you know. Just a thought; If you were to put a compressor after this group of effects, do you think it would give more punch to the other octaves? Given, the effect here sounds great, but some of the octaves come out a bit weak in the sequence.

@hondansr91 the true bypass mod removes the whammy's buffer from your guitar signal when it is not engaged. the buffer of the whammy forces a rather unpleasant, digital and trebly quality on your signal.

@xStinger1987x thanks mate! because my whammy was modded for true bypass, it involved installing a new switch for the true bypass. however, you still need to be able to have access to the original footswitch somehow, so you can recalibrate the whammy when needed. i had tim replace the original footswitch with that red button so it's out of the way, but still easy access when needed.

***** It's actually 125 bpm. The official sheet music for most of the songs on BH&R was abysmally transcribed. If you import MOTP into logic or cubase and sync the tempo that way, you'd see that it is 125bpm.

  • @letsgetcarriedaway
