Maono PD400X HONEST Review - watch out SHURE MV7! Not Sponsored

Ғылым және технология

Like always first hand unbiased unsponsored review of Maono PD400x microphone. I think their main competitor is targeted at the Shure MB7 and even SM7B. I actually quite like this mic apart from the issues mentioned in the video. I think this will be released later this month so could wait and see what other reviewers say. It is available on Kickstarter but 30$ off so if you want to buy it go ahead. I am not affiliated. also, buy at your own discretion. Let me know what you of the sound.
As of the time of upload, I am using this for most of my videos and I place it about 40 degrees side of my mouth to avoid the POP noise (i don't like the look of the filter so I don't use it)

Best review of this mic. I was on the fence about an extra mic strictly for the controlled light room I use for videos. This thing might have saved me from another sm7b . Good stuff

A couple of observations. First of all, a shock mount and boom arm should virtually eliminate any vibration with a dynamic mic. Secondly, dynamic XLR mics don't require phantom power in order to operate -- condenser XLR mics require phantom power in order to operate. Finally, broadcast quality dynamic XLR mics like this one typically require a high gain preamp in order for it to be usable -- USB mics use a built-in preamp.

Hey, thx for review. It sounds like good dynamic mic. I thinking about buying it, but I want to ask you, is it running the maono app on Mac?

Great review. If you got an extension for the included base plate to make mic sit taller do you think it will be too top heavy to extend height?

I already owned this microphone and found this video because I noticed that my microphone wasn't sounding very good, and now that I see this video I notice that my microphone sounds more like 30 dollar value when I paid 150 for it. Got any tips?

The Maono PD400X is a terrific mic. Unfortunately your gain was way too low and you're too far away. Use the headphone monitoring feature next time before doing your YT videos.

Phantom for a dynamic mic?! Nope. Amplifier - yes, but no phantom, unless there is a phantom-powered amp built in - which usually isn't the case. Phantom power is for condenser mics to work at all, not to amplify dynamic mics (although there indeed are such dedicated preamps like Cloudlifter, Alctron MA-1, sE Electronics DM1, and some others).

If you don't talk right into the tip of the mic then ylthe audio seems like you're far away.
