@ProgGeekll good , but no one can touch the ubiquitous Paul Frees. Even at Disney you could here him on Spaceship Earth until they did the overhaul after the 25th anniversary. He did more voice over work then just about anyone back in the golden years of tv and movies.

CSB: When I was a kid, I found out that I could check out cassettes of vintage radio shows from the library. I picked one at random called "Life with Luigi", from the 1940s, which included some guy named Alan Reed as one of the actors. I thought that guy sounded a lot like Fred Flintstone. This was the 70's and there was no Internet, so I had to wait until a local channel ran the Flintstones in syndication, and I discovered from the credits that Alan Reed was in fact Fred Flintstone. So his voice had been famous for decades.

Alan Reed was a veteran radio actor trying to transition to television character roles, and it wasn't working out well for him. Meanwhile, Hanna and Barbera were at their wit's end trying to find just the right voice for Fred Flintstone. As the story goes, asked for an example of what they wanted, one of them said "Well, there was this radio actor back in New York..." Following a pregnant pause, they said "Hey, wait a minute!" And the rest is history...

The original Flintstones from 1960-66 is the classic with Allen Reed doing Fred. The spin offs are good but not the same.

Henry Corden can be heard in an episode of The Flintstones, "Dino and Juliet", playing an obnoxious new neighbor named Loudrock. So you get to hear both voices of Fred Flintstone (usually arguing with each other).

What about Hardin, villian in "Jonny Quest" episode 12, "The Dreadful Doll"? It just dawned on me one day, "Hey, that's Fred Flintstone." I'm sure he did many voicings over the years.

In many interviews, Alan Reed explained how cartoonist for The Flintstones drew their characters and scenes around the sound of their recorded voices. I didn't realize how much Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble look like Alan Reed and Mel Blanc themselves.....😏

That's not Alan Reed doing those voices! That's Fred Flintstone!
