I too have REALLY been wanting this info. I have had a very strong hunch that they are using the RC60F or RC61F from the Hilux diesels. The 4.78 1st ratio matches the Hilux too. So while it’s not confirmed, chances are very good. I really hope somehow this can be swappable into the 3rd gen, but I’m also pumped for its use in the 4th gen.

You would have loved the 80's, manual transmissions were standard on everything- cars included. I've owned both, and the manual transmission is a wholly over rated experience. If you put a lot of city miles on your truck, shifting gets old real quick. I can see the appeal of it for highway driving or weekend use.

Some nice improvements over the 3rd gen. No more muffler hanging down in the middle of the belly past the frame rails, hopefully the low hanging muffler tip is a pre-production thing. Great they included some basic reservoir shocks on the TRD OR. Hopefully the quicker 4wd shifting meant they got rid of the unreliable shift actuator from the gen 2 and gen 3s. Still no 4auto option on the t-case, like most of the competition. After the expected MPG on the Landcruiser, looking forward to what the Taco will bring. It's crap that the 3rd gen got the same MPG as my v8 fullsizes in the Rockies.

Ford and GM have had the auto option since ~2012, but are super lacking in info. Jeep's had it for awhile in certain models, but added it as a separate option to when the JL and JT came out.

My old truck, a 2002 Sonoma, had hydraulic steering with about an inch of play in the steering wheel. I could move the steering wheel about an inch before it would turn the wheels. My new truck, a 2016 Canyon, has electric steering with no play in the wheel. At first, it felt "twitchy" because the steering was so sensitive. After a few minutes, I learned to be more gentle with my steering wheel movements. I didn't need to yank the wheel to get it to respond quickly. Electric steering feels like a quick ratio steering, but after a while, it becomes normal.

As an owner of a 2023 Lexus Rx500, the new Toyota infotainment interface is highly annoying. Wayyy too many button presses to get to commonly used features, no set “home buttons” that stay visible in Apple car play, etc. just overall not impressive, especially compared to what Ford and Jeep are offering on new vehicles. The speedometer should be electronic, driven by the wheel speed sensors. They should be able to drop a correction in at the dealership. Of coarse it isn't that much of a change. It may also end up being like my F150: When I put 33's on it the tires actually corrected the speedometer. It was a little optimistic in stock configuration. It's dead on now.

you wouldnt want a truck, is that what you mean ?and its ok and i said 90% of people who has this doesnt know how to drive a stick and we are talking about body on frame 4x4 with low range gearing issues as the automatic hunts for gears and if you drove a sedan or any other type of cars , the short stick throws are entirely different from these trucks which have long throws which are for crawl ratio low gears and the point is , a professional looking for a good towing rig would prefer this over the auto which uses the ECT power that makes the engine rev higher for max output which is not ideal. The manuals from 20 years ago are not the same as now.@@seeno1,

Andre, ask Toyota why they don't make a free advertisement truck like Ford and Ram? Ranger Raptors, and the like, are merely forms of advertisement. They don't manufacture many of these trucks and don't make much money on there sale, but they get $MM in free publicity and perception. Imagine the 2025 Toyota Tacoma Land King, or Toyota Tacoma KOTH ("King of the hill") edition or Toyota Tacoma Tomahawk- featuring a 3.4L twin turbo v6 with 465 HP and 610 pound-feet of torque at 2,400 rpm, Front locker, rear locker and center locker with a KDSS system. Sure, it would cost $108,000 and Toyota would only make 500 each year, but the Tacoma would be "King of the hill" in everything, including sales!
