Bro one light means nothing. I could be a sensor lmao. If hes modded the car they could just be on forever and nothing will ever happen. My sisters 09 civic has had the check engine light since she got it and passed a safety check for insurance with the check engine light on.

I drive an auto, would love to switch to manual. That slow moving bumper to bumper crawling traffic is the only thing I'd be afraid of, and that's coz I don't know what u are supposed to do. Why is riding the clutch dangerous? Shouldn't u just clutch out half way to gain momentum then clutch back in? I imagine personally I'd just get off the clutch and maintain the throttle at the halfway point and move at a constant speed where the car ain't yearning for a gear change. As opposed to changing from 1st to 2nd to 1st again, no?

@@henrylynch9437 well the way explained above is how probably 80% of manual drivers including myself do. Anytime you press the clutch you cause wear, holding in the clutch fully disengaged for a prolonged time iE(sitting at a light) wears down your throwout bearing. Only real way to minimize the strain and wear is to stay in first until you’re almost at stall speeds the drop it into neutral. I really only do that in trucks and older cars tho. If you time it well you dont even come to a dead stop just throw it back in first and give it a little rpms and the momentum will get you back up to speed. 🫡 drove my first car clutchless until I could afford to replace it and thats ironically what taught me clutch control (clutchless shifting.) 😂

Seems logical, the cars in front of him aren't moving too much either so he can just have it roll. I like this method as well, it was called Defencive Driving, but it will currently fail you at the driving exam if you do it where I live.

Pro tip. Keep a lot of space and go slow, stay in 1st. They’re going to start moving and accelerate fast, then stop and by the time they’re going again you’re still just slowly rolling up still in gear

Upshift to 2nd, control the clutch. As long as you don't come to a full stop, you can accelerate with 2nd gear unless you are going uphill

To all US boys and girls who just learned how to drive manual: You don't actually have to change gears so much while being in traffic. You can use 2nd gear to start driving. You don't have to put it in 1st everytime you stop. Although you have to use a clutch for a little longer but it's still possible and less trouble than shifting every 5 sec.

Highly depends what car you’re using. My 1.6L will force me to toast the clutch trying to get moving in 2nd gear on any grade steeper than completely flat.

Just come to India and you will realize what real pain of manual driving is.. the traffic you are saying and the gap between 2 cars is like you will easily fit more 2 cars in India thats called as bumper to bumper traffic and you need to shift after every 20 secs clutch break accelerator.. you should be happy getting manual as this is no traffic
