I think you might be able to put mantis shrimp(only the clubbing type) with certain fast swimming saltwater fish as long as the tank is big enough. Definitely not the spearing ones because they specialize in hunting fish, clubbing ones prefer crustaceans but will eat slow fish like goldfish. Some people keep them with damselfish because damselfish are super fast and tough.

The live sand you have in the tanks rear chamber is only effective at cleaning water that flows over the top of its surface. So if you have more than half an inch then your setting your tank up for a nutrient bomb because everything that’s buried in the sand will die eventually and won’t be helping at all. Surface bacteria is only effective and can help on the very surface. Just want to offer some advice after you said you have a “ton” of sand back there. Love the vids btw

3/5 Stars Blue Zoo Aquatic (so far) Received my Peacock Mantis shrimp from Blue Zoo Aquatics this past Thursday was about 150$ for their largest size. Acclimation went well the package hie came in was really nice it came with acclimation instructions for many aquarium fish as well as a drip tube with suction cup, sample food, and this calming chemical to make the acclimation and transferring process less stressful for the animal. During the acclimation process I noticed his antenna scale on the left side had a chunk missing, was surprised but didn’t mind much as it looked healed and he wouldn’t be communicating with other Mantis Shrimp. The disappointment really sat in after observing the Mantis shrimp explore its new tank and noticed his whole left club is missing it has the “shoulder” and “forearm” but the red club is missing. I tried called during their given business hours but no answer, i have also emailed their customer support politely with pictures but no response yet. Nothing on the website noted that it would coming with defect or Injury. Hopefully we are compensated in some way as me and my boyfriend enjoy him and his personality so far.

He did not unfortunately he later lost his other one found it outside his cave. He seemed to accept food pretty good until he lost his last club. We assume in transit or in the companies care it experienced something stressful. It would pace its tank. We got refunded a portion of the money.

I just know how hard these guys hit, they literally boil the water around their appendage for a split second they are going so fast, so with that being said I'm confident it could break glass. But would it try? Or has it been documented happening?
