From its origins shaped by trade and religion to its evolution through tribal merging, Manipur's journey is a captivating tale of resilience and struggle. Learn about the rich diversity fostered by intra-clan marriages and the influences of groups like the 'Kukis' on Manipuri identity.
We discuss the tumultuous past of the region marked by British interference and the subsequent loss of sovereignty to the Indian Dominion. Explore the roots of insurgency and the ongoing struggle for territorial sovereignty, including the emergence of armed groups like the Manipur National Front Liberation (MNFL) and the Nagas' quest for autonomy.

The truth don't favour any side. It's about how both sides react and respond to the truth. If truth truly did prevail, the conflict would've ended a long time back. But the conflict carries on because both sides are not satisfied with the truth and want to create their own desired outcomes. That's how every conflict escalates similarly everywhere. Israel-Palestine is in the same predicament. We're at a point where the truth has become blurred. Both sides got blood on their hands, which is why the hatred and fighting never ends.

Fact: Kabaw valley was given to Myanmar in exchange with Andaman and Nicobar Island of Burmese after Indian independence as a part of negotiation with Myanmar by Indian government. Seeing the potential of Andaman and Nicobar on goods/oil transport canal/route, Indian Government (PM Nehru signed it) gave away kabaw valley without any discussion withe natives and Manipuris.

48:22 Was there any clashes between the Kukis and the Nagas living in the South? Short Answer: Yes. "As per the accounts of Sir Robert Reids, the Kuki mercenaries massacred about 176 persons of Goitang village and total of about 76 houses were completely razed to ashes." Goitang is a village in Khoupum, Noney District. People there still narrates vividly of the massacre. The Kukis butchered the villagers in the dead of the night when the villagers were fast asleep in their morung after a day of festivities which included cultural dances, cultural sports and drinking of rice beer. It is said that wooden pestles used for pounding rice, usually about 5-10 kilos heavy, were floating from the blood that flowed from the massacre. Many of the Rongmei villages towards South of Khoupum valley were occupied by the Kukis.

My brother, please don't share half baked stories. The Kuki Naga clash was equally tragic and cruel for both. No point in opening past wounds, we should be healing it instead. The relationship between the two except for some land disputes have been very progressive in the past 10 to 20 years. The reason Manipur is such a mess is because everyone keeps pointing their finger at each other.

Sometimes you can be blunt.... Some(not all) officers of the country's Armed forces are conniving with the immigrants against the indigenous people to have a good control over the insurgency situation out here. Some even helping them to rewrite history to validate their claims. It's high time the central Govt look into the matter as maximum indigenous civilians doesn't support insurgents out here. However, they've been victimized because of the incompetancies of those officers. This has become one reason for the anti India feelings amongst the indigenous folks.

Pangal or Manipuri Muslims are not Meitei. They speak Meiteilon as their mother tongue as they don't have their own mother tongue. They came to Manipur in 17th century and their foremothers are Meitei women as the King of Manipur made Meitei women married to the immigrated Muslim men. So they are a mixed ethnic group. THEY ARE NOT MEITEI and THEY SHOUD BE CALLED PANGAL.

First thing we should do is learn our history with open mind and teach our children to be proud of the Meitei culture, its language and its history and to love this land. Otherwise Meitei will just fight each other like before for money and power and Metei will either become Chritian or Muslim or Woke and the spirit of being a Meitei will become extinct.

ZO People/Zo Nations - But wrongly called Kuki by the British invader. Kuki is a word which is foreign to the so called Kuki People. It does not have any meaning, and if you ask anyone from the so called Kukis and let them try to define it literally, no one will be able to explain, define or give meaning to the word Kuki, NO ONE. These people are called Kuki because this is a name given by outside people esp East India Company - The Briitish agents, scholars, officials and their Indian emoloyees viz soldiers, workers, porters etc. just like how Europeans called the people who they found in America as the Red Indians - whereas they called themselves Navajos, Mohican, Commanches, Apaches, Mayans, Aztecs etc..). As a layman and who do not have any academic expertise my observarion especially In Manipur and many parts of NE, if you can speak and understand different dialects then linguistically - Meitei dialects, many Naga dialects & different so called Kuki dialects have many similarities. There are many common words between these communities - from present western Myanmar region and extending towards many parts of NE India. For instance counting numbers - 1 - Meitei - Ama, Kuki, Mizo etc - Khat, Pakhat etc 2. Ani, Hnih, Nih, pahnih 3. Ahum, thum, pathum 4. Mari, Li, Pali, 5. Manga, nga, panga 6. Taruk, Guk, Ruk, Paruk 7. Taret, Sagih, Sari, Pasarih 8. Nipan, Giet, Giat, Riat, Pariat 9. Mapan, Kuo, Kua, Pakua 10. Tara, Som, 11. Tara ama, Som le khat, Sawmpakhat 12. Tara ani, Som le nih, Sawmpahnih 13. Tara ahum, som leh thum, Sawmpathum etc... Fire : Meitei lon - Mei, Kuki Zo, Mizo - Mei Fish - Nga, Ngha, Nga, ngasa, Sangha Food - Chak, Chaw, Buh Meat - Sa, Sa, Sa, Sa Earth - Lei, Lei, Lei, Lei Sun - Nung, Ni, Ni, Ni Moon - Tha, Tha, Tha, Thla You/Yoursef - Nang/Nahak, Nang, Nang, Nangmah Me - Ei, Ei, Ei, Kei People - Mi, Mi, Mi, Mi Also please note there are also many borrowed words from their neighbours like - Bengoli, Assamese, Hindi, English etc in later years probably from 17th to 19th Centuries. If you are a true linguistic expert you will find hundres of words that sound similar, how sentences are consructed etc.. Many traditional old practices, customs, religious etc are also interchanged between these communities. Apart from the Nagas, the so called Kukis are called Chins/Zo/Yo in Burma, Kuki/Zo/Mizo in India, Kuki in Bangladesh. Chin is also a name given by the burmese and british to these group of people, and even the Meiteis (Kathes) also fall under the Chin group in Butma. But the majority of them called themselves which is very very common amongst these groups is they identified themselves as ZO - From South Western Myanmar, NE India to Bangladesh. Look at your google map and you will find these regions have maximum Hill Ranges and some valleys occupied by the ZO people, and the name of maximum villages are ZO names only. If you really want to find out take some journalists, anthropologists and scholars from NE with you and visit all these places. It will be a real eye opener on the ground reality, not from some room in Mumbai or Delhi. And don't believe every narrative in the internet.

Also, your speakers having wealth of knowledge will speak for long. May be, you may consider giving a 5-10 min gist in the end.
