This is great song, video, record and the band! Many mentioned that this is about Spanish Civil War but I think it could metafora also for many things more, even there are exact hints about this main explanation. Pollution, Climate change and especially new rise of totalitarianism. Mesmerizing band. I have now started to listen their remastered Lifeblood -record from the 2004. This is fascinating band.
Musically & lyrically you won’t hear better. Love the sound effects also so much. Great Reaction as the video is very interesting also.Your take on the meaning is pretty spot on surprisingly 👏

They are a new band to me since starting the channel but enjoying what I'm hearing so far, hope you enjoyed the reaction
The song is about the Spanish Civil War that took place in the 1930’s. “If you tolerate this, your children will be next” was a slogan from an anti-Franco poster that spread like wildfire through Spain at the time. The line “I can shoot rabbits, but not fascists” was attributed to a young man (I can’t recall his name) who said this to his brother before joining the fight against Francisco Franco’s fascist government. The line “I’ve walked Las Ramblas/but not with real intent” references a street in Barcelona, Spain (La Rambla) where fighting took place during the war. Also, there were men from Wales who volunteered to fight with the Spanish Republicans against the Nationalists (Franco’s government) and Manic Street Preaches are a Welsh band, as I’m sure you know. :)

But the overall message I get from the song is the sense that the older generation were so different in that they would go and fight in a war mostly unrelated to them in order to stop the spread of fascism in Europe. How right they were!. The songwriter doubts he would be able to do the same so he is gutless in that respect as stated in the song lyrics.
Please react to The masses against the classes also by Manic street preachers, next.
