The holy bible album is amongst one of the greatest albums ever created.

The two greatest lyrics I have heard are in this song: ‘I know I believe in nothing, but it is my nothing’ And ‘I’ve been too honest with myself, I should have lied like everybody else.’

One of my favourites. You should definitely do the rest of the album, it sounds like you would enjoy it. Keep up the good work.

One of my favourite bands, they have a treasure chest of great songs. I'd recommend 'motorcycle emptiness' and 'a design for life'.

I recommend the rest of this album in its entirety, but Archives of Pain would be my next recommendation from the album. The lyrics are as dark as the instrumentation, I love it! Also “Sleepflower” and “From Despair to Where” from the 2nd album, Gold Against the Soul.

Archives Of Pain is totally awesome. It is also interesting that I have met some ppl over the years who share Richeys pro death penalty stance but I think he only thinks this in obvious cases as mentioned in the song like Pol Pot for example.

Richey Edwards, the lyricist, went missing in the mid 90s and never seen again and the band triumphantly reformed as a 3 piece

The Manics are brilliant and this track is from one of the best albums of all time. Please react to Archives of Pain by the Manics from the same album.

An absolute masterpiece of a song. Essentially it’s about no matter what you do there will always be criticism and it’s just man killing everything he creates essentially. The band therefore believe in nothing as they state in the song and this makes them better than all these supposed great thinkers like Miller & Pinter. For me it’s probably my fav song along with “Revol” from their superb album “The Holy Bible”. They have so many other great songs as people have mentioned in the comments and actually the styles of these songs can be quite different which is their great strongpoint for me but has I guess alienated some of their fan base over the years. “Motorcycle Emptiness”, “A design for life” & “If you tolerate this, your children will be next” are I would guess be the top 3 favorite songs amongst most fans. My personal other favorite song being “Kevin Carter” about the Pulitzer Prize winning Photographer who tragically committed suicide.

Loved this song can we have more by this band please, thank you for putting up the lyrics I didn’t really know what he was singing much - I thought the manic preachers would sound like that terrible depressing sounding band the smiths. This blew me away and it was indeed faster

People crap on Know Your Enemy, but there are a clutch of good tunes on that lp. Found That Soul, or Let Robeson Sing are a couple of gems. Of course, you could do Motorcycle Emptiness or Little Baby Nothing off of the debut.

The into is John Hurt from the 1984 movie. this song was Richy comparing who he is versus the criticsim in the media. They were hounded by the British music press. A British music journalist accused Richy of being a comic book character & being not for real. Richy responded by carving "4 REAL" in his forearm with a razor blade.

This was the first CD I ever bought and I still own it. A double A side so 'PCP' is also on the album and another fast tune. 'The Holy Bible' is their strongest album although later albums were more commercially successful. It's a dark, lyrically dense, raw, post punk record. From this album I'd choose 'This is Yesterday', 'Mausoleum', 'Yes' from other records there's 'Sleepflower', 'Nobody Loved You', 'You Love Us', 'No Surface, All Feeling' and 'Intravenous Agnostic'...

"Faster" is a good entry point into MSP (def watch the video) - _The Holy Bible_ is a landmark album from their early Clash-model era with guitarist Richie Edwards (RIP), well known across the pond as one of the towering best LPs of the '90s. Still going strong, MSP are legends w/a 30 year discography of seminal albums & a deep rabbithole of top tunes & killer b-sides. Further listening: "A Design For Life" (1996) - the famous anthem off their seminal, breakthrough Britpop album _Everything Must Go_ "I'm Not Working" / "Tsunami" / "If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next" - off 1998 album _This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours_ (the best album of 1998, imo) "Jackie Collins Existential Question Time" (2009) - off _Journal For Plague Lovers,_ the spiritual sequel to _The Holy Bible_ "Motorcycle Emptiness" (1992) - off their GnR-influenced debut _,Generation Terrorists_

Interesting you mention “Im not working” which I initially didn’t like that much but it has really grown on me over the years. “Black Dog on my shoulder” from this is my truth is an absolutely superb song also IMHO Oh yes their b-sides are of really high quality. Too many to list actually and I actually listen to many of them as much as the A-sides. Also, whenever they do a song cover it’s usually amazing.

@@beehivecluster7496 Love all of those tunes. Believe it or not Everlasting album version is one of my favorite songs of theirs…it’s quite a long opening track though and I prefer manics opening tracks to really grab my attention and be short and really rocky. Peeled apples I had forgotten about and is awesome and found that soul too is a nice rocker also 👍. Yeah such an underrated band and the number of really top quality tunes in their back catalogue is quite amazing. They also have a lot of hidden gem b-sides you should also check out if you have not done so already
