Mangalorean Fish Curry Recipe | Meen Gassi
Amaze your friends and family with this dish, tangy and spicy Mangalorean Fish curry/ Meen Gassi. This fish curry is a popular curry from Mangalore , coastal area in Southern region of Karnataka. Meen in kannada means Fish and Gassi is curry, hence it’s called as Meen Gassi in local language .
This curry is a lightly spiced dish with a hint of tang from tamarind and a very mild sweetish tone from coconut . The flavors balance so well with coconut oil that you end up having extra morsels of rice. Fish Curry is normally served with white rice or boiled rice and is popularly known as fish curry rice.

Oh no noooo we don't put curry leaves in fish curry 😬 also no oil used whatsoever, we don't fry anything! Liked the dry masala-wet masala concept though. We usually mix everything and grind at once.

Hello sir, this is my grandma’s recipe & she was as mangalorean as you are. I believe every household has their own version of fish curry, well this is ours. Do try this recipe & I’m sure you’ll love it.
Don't use spoon after you put the fish. Just keep stirring the dish.we have lived on fish all our lives.
Am manglorian we are not frying any thing in fish Curry even not using oil also our curry was oil free
