Being a manga artist seems like a fun job and a great hobby you would enjoy to do as a job. But its pretty difficult as there are many more better artists out there than you especially as a beginner at your job with only a gist and skill of it. It is frustrating when you just can get the character right or make small point you feel like giving up.
@poego6045

It's fun, but it's also an extremely competitive business that has an intense schedule. I mean, it varies by manga artist, and when you prove yourself, you get more leeway (like Miura with Berserk being allowed huge spans of time off), but like if I recall correctly, Eiichiro Oda (of One Piece) only gets I think 2 hours of sleep a night and the rest is spent constantly working? if not 2, then 4 hours, but it's something insane like that.

From an illustrator with 30 years experience, let me preface one point he makes. He talks about how much ink to put on the nib. That document ink is very thick and its flow is slow. So you don't need to use the "breather hole," aka "Gravity well," or "vent." However, if your ink is runny/watery, you need to cover the nib until the gravity well is covered. Otherwise, you'll make one stroke and have to dip again, costing you valuable time. Also, what he didn't cover is preparation of the nib. Modern-day nibs may or may not have a protective coating. Vintage nibs do. You must remove this coating prior to use or the flow will fail. The easiest method is to dip the pen in ink and wipe it off, two to three times. You will know it is ready when the ink coats the pen like paint and does NOT bunch up into balls. Under NO circumstance should you use a match or lighter. Applying heat to the point ruins the temper of the metal. It will cause the point to break or corrode faster than intended.

I just run my nibs through a quick dip in acetone when fresh. I also rinse my nibs once with water and then with acetone after drying to both remove water and get rid of any of the "waterproof" ingredients in India ink.

just ordered these pens online. i am definitely not a professional, so we’ll see how this goes.
Professional! 🌚
I admire all you manga artists..
Damn he's inking slowly yet very carefully, the line art has dynamics ❤ ehhhh i must do d same to my drawings ❤
Thank you so much for this episode. When i was young, i always wondered how this thick pretty lines between thin lines are made which makes the whole manga illustration attractive, then when i saw that they used fountain pen i was more confused. its not easy to use fountain pen but this video will always help me whenever i make illustrations. thank you again.
I hope he can make more videos. He is so cheerful.
Thank you~~~
This guy is super cute. Very giggly, but cute. Definitely a very professional manga artist indeed. Love him. 🥰
The sound of the G pen made me wanna grind my teeth together 💀 but apart from that senpai~ is so talented
the voice from behind similar to Araki
this video helped me on my struggles with my G-pen... the mangaka is so funny lol

What kind of paper are you using? Great video by the way very informative! Also what Pen Holder and Nub and ink are you using?

Thank you!
this is the first video ive watched of yours and im already in love ~~ Great job!!!
Can someone tell which paper was he using
"Short finger" "Little finger" I can't speak for Britain or Australia, but here in America we say "pinky" :).
For some beginners this rough sketch is already the pencil lineart.
Did he just say hello worldo Dio
why no fountain pen?
Questions: 1. Is it okay to just get a normal fountain pen and get the sperate g-pen nib? Because currently that's all I can find in the closest stores near me. 2. Is there a specific ink required or can you use any fountain pen ink? 3. Does anyone know a UK supplier that sells reasonably priced, good quality pens and paper for manga artists?

Only me? Everytime i use g pen my paper always got small ripped😢
My issue was I was being too impatient. It looks like you were very careful and cautious about each and every line you drew. :) thank you for the tutorial!
Can't we draw without g pen or standard paper? Because here it's hard to get those supplies.
Also can anyone tell me what's his name ? I want to read his manga or watch his anime
Who is the drawing supposed to be of?
Hi i really want to know which ink you are using? Is it a thic one or a think one? Thanks
What is pencil you used for rough sketch??😕
I was thinking of making a Pokemon webcomic for grade 11 (if school ever starts again :/). Hopefully your wisdom will help me improve my skills! 💚
nice, I am currently wait for my kabura pen and ink
Uhh I want to ask a question. Does that G pen is also called as Fountain pen? If yes, are they need the ink just like you did in the video?
@Cheetomelito
4 жыл бұрын
They are pretty easy to find... Just go to your local store or order one online. For ink I would recommend you start with black ink and then use other colours too, you can add water to your ink too to create different shades of grey (fifty shades of grey lmao).
@shonenbag6478

I believe G Pens rely on ink from external sources but fountain pens have internal ink. I might be wrong though.

Deleter A4 is a more standard size paper specialized for Manga and it has the blue guide lines to show you where the page would be cut off if you were to scan and print a manga as well
What is the name of the pen how would you search it in Google is what I'm asking?
I am from Brazil and dreaming to be a Brazilian mangaka. I watched this video to learning about how to use G-pen. And I love it. But, what advice you could give me? please!
can waiit to use my kabura pen
5:30 it took 25 strokes to draw that eyebrow. Is that what my problem has been all aloung? I would try to do it in 5 strokes.
Beautiful and professional. You are a real artist!! Looks amazing. greetings from Panamá!
What are the brand names of each of the white out, and white pen he is using? It’s in Japanese so I can’t read. Anybody know the names of them, and where I can order those offline. I prefer doing manga and comic art the old fashioned way.
Thank you very much for this video! You earned a sub for me for being so fun and informative to watch!
I'm having a big issue I just cannot solve :c I wonder how you do with your erasing . My eraser always smudge so the drawing gets dirty. It also erase the ink....... (I'm using foam eraser with Bristol paper and g pen..)
Hello Manga Senpai :-) i have a question. How often we need to clean/wash our pen nib? Thank you in advance. I love all of your video, it really helped me a lot. Love from Malaysia
@kyomashindo6930

I would say clean it right after u use it bc the ink drys and the ink doesn't flow as well
I can only guess how much effort went through creating vagabond and berserk as a manga I mean no offense but it's seems the character here drawn by sensei here is good but it's not that detailic but damn just look how much time he needs to even do a single character...either way it's very admirable.
Wow
thank you so much for this video! The mangaka seems so passionate and lively about the topic and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT~!!
Amazing!!!!
Do artist still draw manga like this? Honestly it looks way better
Is that the new G-Glove?
You have amazing skills sensei
this is so helpful, thank you!
I like the anime sketch. ❤️, and I like the girls' laughter.
My lines are way to gunyan gunyan :(
This is all great advice and I really need to grab a Posca for my inking process along with finding a good correction fluid that is easy to find locally and not "way too damn white" since it is mostly geared towards writing paper which is bleached and brightened far too much.
👁️the pen sounds denger

I love most styles of art. But I think I love anime the most. It's a mix of realistic and cartoon. Which I love! My favourite anime are: Attack On Titan, The promised neverland, SerVamp, Soul eater, Seven deadly sins, Naruto, Bleach. And it's cool to compare the mangas to the shows and movies. And also.. I love these videos too!!
Nice I got to learn a lot from it.
thanks to all of you guys, soon im gonna be a manga artist too❤
