There are lots of lessons and tutorials out there... this is the only one that definitively teaches you how to approach this Mandolin Orange song, Golden Embers. Here, you'll learn the Golden Embers chords and movements. This Golden Embers tutorial correctly shows how to execute the song in the proper key, using a capo on the 2nd fret, while teaching rhythm consistent and sensible to how Golden Embers by Mandolin Orange is played.
Guitar lessons in person are expensive, this is free. Other guitar tutorials on youtube can be risky for your playing habits, because you may be taught faulty mechanics and spend time practicing incorrect short cut versions of a song. This video wont do that to you.

  • @rickcroft84

    Awesome tutorial!! One thing that I needed to really nail this was to slow down the initial play through to get the timing of all the changes. When you break out the intro you're always playing the F chord with downstrum as if you hit it on the beat, but actually its an up stroke on the offbeat and this type of info is key to putting it all together. Regardless beautiful playing and saved a day of me trying to learn this by ear, thank you so much!!!!!

    Any tips for although my fingers are hard when I slide them it feels like a cheese cutter ! I have Martin extra light 10 strings. Also I can't get my thumb to go over the 6th string on the F chord can I just do without ? This is great but is going to take me a while to get it. You make it look so easy !

  • @TimGuitarLessons

    @TimGuitarLessons

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Hanorah! For the sliding feeling like a cheese cutter, I’d suggest trying out different levels of pressure on your slinging finger... meaning, I think a lot of us (many times myself included) try to press harder on the strings than we really need to, and this will exasperate the pain in our fingertips. Try lightening your grip, play around with figuring out what the least amount of pressure is needed to get the note to ring out cleanly and try to let that become the extent of pressure you put on the strings. As for the F chord, the thumb over the top probably isn’t necessary, but if you leave it off, just make sure you avoid that open 6 string since the E isn’t supposed to be in the F major chord. Hope this helps!

    @@TimGuitarLessons Hi Tim thanks for the rapid response ! I will try less pressure as you suggest. I play and sing mostly folk music as well as write a lot of songs.However my guitar playing seems quite boring , so I will be following all your tips and lessons. I did upload Mandolin Orange covers "Into the sun" and "Take this heart of gold" I love their music. I live in France and saw them in Paris last year they were amazing. I could do with some strumming lessons too :) Do you have an online course ?

    Also, how do you slide down (on the Am chord) from second fret to fourth and keep picking without it sounding blocky? Mine sounds like it mutes everything when I slide then when I get to the fourth fret and re pick it sounds odd and I can’t ever get it to fully sound right before I have to slide back down to the second

  • @micah_lee

    @@exactopposite I think it may be easier to slide on better guitar than mine. Well at least I know it was easier when I tried playing this song on a friends electric guitar. I actually watched a video of them playing this song and I think it was Fran (maybe andrew was doing it idk) and they just played it without a slide, just used the third finger on the first note then second finger on the higher up the neck note.
